for me gears of war even as a co-op game i thought it was better then army of two. army of two has some good qualities but thats they just kill it the whole games about co-op but there are only a handful of co-op thing you can do and they are more superficial then anything else at least thats my opinion.
though they are very different games i would say that army of two doesn't have a cover system it has an auto peer system . in the end its obvious that they were lets say influenced by gears (anyone else notice the same bell chime lol), but it wasn't a gears clone and for some that may be good others bad (i think if you like gears you shouldn't get army of two thinking it will play the same because it surprisingly doesn't).
Gears of War is the Best Game Ever Made Period. Army of Two is a decent game but, yes it is obvious they were influenced by Gears. Gears is better in every sense of the word.

Of course it's all opinion...but wow. I really liked the game, but I doubt it's the best ever.
Army of Two doesn't even come close to Gears, not to mention the gameplay is practically broken in Army of Two if you don't have a friend controlling the other guy.
