I've been holding off on playing Gears of War ever since I first played it on my old, "fat" TV, since I practically couldn't read the screen text cause of the lack of resolution. Now my HDTV has arrived, and I have to agree with all of those who say it's a truly beautiful game.

My only beef with it is the characters' constant macho dialogue. OMG, can't help but thinking that we'll laugh at it in a few years the way we now laugh at old Rambo machoisms, and it's almost -  unbearable. What do you guys think?

I laugh at the dialogue now. Gears has all the testosterone-saturated dialogue and action-movie cliches I could ever ask for. That's part of what makes it so awesome.

As a prior service member I felt that the dialogue was great.  You have to remember the job of a soldier and part of it is to be rough, tough, cool under fire, and testosterone fueled dialogue will show its face when you get a bunch of military people around.  Most of the time for the worst.

I was actually thinking "man this is something so and so would have said" and it is slightly spruced up, but that is the closest thing to the way service men interact that I've seen on a video game.

Too bad about the patch that ruined the MP, though.

How can you compare a magnificent book to a crap game like Gears of War?

Rambo: First Blood is no comparison to the crappy 360 game Gears of War.

As if you didn't understand that I was referring to the movie (turned) trilogy, and Stallone's laughable muscleman. Although I never read the book, I too enjoyed First Blood.
