Gears of War = terrible

I know I am the only one who hated this game, and I realize I am going to get torn apart here, but what is it you like about this game? I admit, I have never played it online, so that may be where it's popularity stems from. I only played the single player mode. I hated it, which I reflected in my review. Is it the online gaming that makes everyone love this game? There was some stuff that was cool, but overall I didn't see the appeal.

I'm asking honestly here. I'm not trying to provoke a flame war.

The online is actually where a lot of people complain about the game.

I liked it for the unique gameplay. The story was just muh, but the gameplay, graphics, and sound where all great.

I found the SP amazing, especially in co-op. Despite it's mediocre story, it was fun and it kept me intrigued 'til the end. Now, the MP is where the most fun is. With a slew of great designed maps, you and some buddies can go tearin' online. Heads pop and bodies explode - need I mention more? Once you adjust your playing style to the bullet lag (which, frankly, is unacceptable for a major budget game), it's a great experience and one I highly recommend you try.

Wow, you hated Gears. I could understand you not liking Gears (I know alot of people who don't like Gears; I loved it, but alot of people felt it was way overrated) but hating it? It's a great game.

The only problem I have with Gears is the close range combat is trash (they totally botched it), it's glitchy at some points, and texture pop-in is bad, although not as bad as Bioshock or Mass Effect. All Unreal 3 games have terrible pop-in for some reason.

Again, I'm really not trying to start any fights here. Yes I scored it a 1.0 because I hated the game. Honestly, it was probably a 4.0, but my frustration level made me rate it lower. I don't understand why I lose any credibility just because I don't like the same games that some of you like. That makes no sense to me. I'm trying to figure out what made it so incredibley popular because I just didn't see it.

To those of you who answer honestly and explain, I appreciate it. To those that think I'm dumb just because I don't like the game you like, why do you care? I just want your opinion of the game, not of me.

Do you really not like the game, or do you just suck at it? Your not really saying why you dont like it other than you dont. Every game has is contestors but you're just hating for attention.xsfseal

i think most people liked the game because they were man enough to play a campiagn mode that contained extreme blood, gore, and all the chainsaw kills you can ask for. people like yourself however, did not like it because you were too scared that marcus fenix would cut you in half. so you just sit tight in your little bedroom playin viva pinyata and ill be on my big screen tv with your mom by my side playin gearskyle1942

First off, did I suck at it? I don't know maybe. I didn't like the monotany, the 3rd person view, shortness of game, and the final level.

My mom is 63, so have fun with her I guess.

In one of my posts that didn't work, (stupid computer), I addressed that honestly I should have rated it a 4.0. My frustration level with the game though made me take an unfair shot at it I admit.

And yes I know I stink and can't even work this computer, therefore I must suck so bad that I couldn't figure out the game.

I hear what ya'll are sayin, and maybe I didn't give it a fair shake. And as one of you posted, your right, I probably am not going to change my opinion. Just wondering if a point could be raised as to why it is so tremendously popular and if there was anything in it that made it better than any other shooter on the market.

I never understand why people make posts to announce their dislike of a game. As you said, you wrote a review. Thats enough. Shut up and get over it. Difference of opinion my friend.

You scored the game a 1 because of Frustration? Clearly youve never played R6V on Veteran or even Turok. I liked the game, it was atleast an 8. Story was ok, gameplay was awesome, sound was great, graphics were amazing. The multiplayer ruined it, but not enough for even a 4.

You know what kind of answers you're gonna get here when you ask it, so you should put this in your blog if you hate it so much. Not like anyone is going to read it though...

Exactly. No one would read it. Therefore no one would post, which means I wouldn't get an honest answer to my question. I knew the fans of the game wouldn't like what I said, but I thought we could give examples and explinations and discuss it maturely.

Again, I'm not attacking any of you here, just the game.

OK, that's really weird, I havent heard Gears Of War and terrible in the same sentence. Dude.... I mean it's one thing not to like it, but.... 1.0!? holy crap!

Giving the game a 1.0 and not liking the game is a different story.

Gears may have its faults (hosting, quitters, searching for games) but its a great game. Its the game thats had the most replay value ever for me. I'm still putting a few games in every other day and its been a year and a couple months. And this isn't Wii or the Gamecube....great online shooters/racers/sports games/etc come out monthly so playing a game this long (over COD4, Halo 3, Vegas, etc) should be a huge accomplishment.
