It is still one of the top 5 most played games on xbox live according to majornelson's weekly top 10 list. I play weekly and there is always a decent number of games online to have a good time!

Yeah, many people play but watch out for the pros who've been playing a hell lot who sprint to the sniper rifles and get headshots on you 30 seconds into the game. It pisses me off, but the game itself is extremely fun, get it again.

Most Multi gets old unless you have a close friend to share the experience with. Tag teaming other players is great.
I play it everyday. Sure, it get's kind of boring every now and then, but after not playing it for a couple of days it's fun again. It's been sitting in my disk tray for 4 months now lol.

I've had Gears since it first came out in November of 2006...and let me say that I still play it to this day religiously and I'm still addicted to the mulitplayer. There's tons of people still playing online being just as obnoxious as ever. So it's sad that you can't roll with Gears of War anymore because you get raped and sodomized online. Aw well, there's always Viva Pinata for you!

I don't think Gears feels it's age. I think if they re-released it today, it would get the same score. The game is great, it's held up to me. I still think it's a front-runner for the best Xbox game, maybe even best game of the Generation so far.
And sadly, all online shooters get boring after a while.
