Can you buy upgrades??? Like I know the Xbox 360 Arcade is very lacking in memory compared to the others, for example. Can I buy upgrades for my crappified 360 later on??? I don't want to buy a 360, get the worst type, and then not be able to make it better.

You NEED a harddrive if you are going online. If you play only offline and don't connect to the internet all you need is a memeory card for game saves.

I saved money by not getting the pro and it was well worth it.

its ok for now if that's all you can afford, though eventually you will need a HDD. You'll pay a little extra because you didn't get a higher model but its not a big deal really.

The only difference between modern day 360's (arcade and pro) is the Pro comes with the HDD, the POS corded headset, a ethernet cord, and an HD cable for the TV (also they used to have different CD tray colors, either silver for pro, white for arcade). Once you purchase the HDD later, you get the Headset, the ethernet, and 3 months of live. So you lose out on an HD cable, but gain 3 months of gold, and a memory card. Weigh your choices and act accordingly.

p.s. The prices are the same, 299 vs, 199+99.  Also backwards compatibility only works with an HDD

I am supper bummed. I have one of the original "core" models and they never came with hd support. Friggin sucks. I have a kick ass 42" HDTV and can't plug my HDMI cord into my xbox360. I am supper bummed I guess I won't get any digital output at all??

You made the smart choice. You can buy a 120gb HDD on Amazon for like $100. Some people went out and purchased a 60gb Pro model for $300 not realizing that had they bought an Arcade and gone on amazon, they could have gottena 120gb 360 for $300. If you don't need that much space, and nobody does, you can buy a 20gb hdd from microsoft for $30. The Elite is for suckers, The Pro is for people who are afraid of the internet, and the Arcade is for smart, tech-savvy shopper.

Yep, 99% of this site will tell you have to buy a 60gb and that its the only reasonable option. Those people are either afraid of the internet or don't have the tech savviness to know that there a place called the internet that sells stuff at a good price.

Some people buy Elites because for some reason they'd rather pay $400 for a system that should only cost them $300.  They say that it comes with an HDMI cable, not knowing that you can go on this place called the "Internet" and buy HDMI cables for $6 including shipping.  They probably use $20 to blow their nose and get a hard on from throwing money down the toilet.

I don't think the original poster fits that category.

i'm agreeing with you that if you got the arcade and and HDD separate you can save a lot of money(like you said). but really its a matter of convenience. I have the money to buy the elite so its not like i was saving money for like 2 years to buy it. I just bought it, nothing to it. But for people that don't really have the money for it then your solution is much better. or if you just want to save like $100 then same goes.
