ok, my first question is if theres any way to tell what systems have the 65nm chips. I read they were trickling onto store shelves and was just curious if theres a manufacturing date anywhere on the box?

My other question is where can i check the backwards compatibility list? I'd love to finally retire my old xbox.If someone knows off the top of their head which games wont work, heres a list of my xbox games: Beyond Good and Evil, Black, Bloodrayne 2, Burnout 3, Conker, the Halos, Jade Empire, Tomb Raider Legend, Manhunt, Mercenaries, Panzer Dragoon Orta, the Prince of Persia series, and Psi Ops. Thanks in advance guys.

Buy an extended warranty through Best Buy.

The 360 is going to break because Microsoft is still using the same cheap parts.

All this nonsense idiots on these boards talk about smaller chips does not benefit the consumer. It only benefits Microsoft because they're using even cheaper parts than before. Thus the 360 has gone down in price. Thus more consoles are breaking. Thus Microsoft is so over-whelmed that it takes 4 + weeks to get a refurb console.

Keep your psu away from the console, and from the carpet. Keep it on a surface so it stays cool.

Keep your console well ventilated. Make sure your cables aren't blocking the exhaust vent.

If you get 2 red rings, or 4, I can't remember, your system is overheating (not hardware failure). That means your room/living room, or where is too hot. Use a fan to blow infront or from the side of the system. This keeps it cooler.

If you get 3 red rings, the number is 1-800 4my xbox.

Microsoft gives you a 1 year warranty on the 360.

After that it needs to have the 3 ROD to qualify for a free repair.

Repair process through Microsoft is time consuming. Always takes a month +

The customer support is in India.

With the Best Buy warranty. If it breaks within 2 years for any reason. You go to the store and get a new console. Keep your hard-drive if you want. :)

If you can go a month without playing games then you will love Microsoft.

No problem.

In my opinion Sony designed the PS3 with quality so it won't break.

The 360 however.....is a different story.

Good luck with Microsoft. :P

All the Halo 3 edition consoles have that new heat-sink and use that 65nm.

However that console is UGLY, so I would rather have the console that over-heats. :P

Na thanks. Im trying to keep the cost down as much as possible since a core, halo 3, and Eternal Sonata comes up to roughly 500 bucks. I know tacking on an extra50 bucks for the warranty wouldnt seem like a big deal, but sometimes its not worth it. I dont mind waiting a month if it comes to that (hopefully it wont). Plus theres no way I would ever need 120GB.

New question: I noticed 4 of my old xbox games arent compatible. Does MS release regular updates to update the list or should i trade them in and re-buy them for another system?

you should be fine Microsoft covers RROD for three years so if breaks call microsoft the only inconvenience is that you have to wait for the shipping back and forth

BTW make sure you get the pro+2 free games, Froza 2 and Marval UA should be in stors ATM.

Might be doubtful. Originally I was gonna go for an arcade since i wont be doing any online stuff like downloads. I'll just be saving game data. I decided on the core though because Marvel and Forza will last me a while until i save up for more games next year.
