I think it would be worth it, depends on how much. And to the warranty every 360 now has a 3 year warranty so you should be good to go.

This is what you have to do first before you purchase it. Take off the faceplate and examine the microsoft warranty sticker. If it still there and theres no signs of it being tampered with then yes buy it if you want. You have the 3 year warranty and you can send it in and they will modify your cooling system for free. Or you can wait to buy one in the fall around october or november. They will be coming out with 65 nanometer chips which will be the best factor for keeping your console alive as long as possible. I would personally buy it in october. Save up more and buy an elite. They will probably have the 65 nanometers before the premiums. The new elites have the new heatsinks in them right now. I would personally wait, but if you really want one now and you are fine with future repairs then go for it.

Not necessarily. It's just that they have had problems in the past so microsoft is going to use different parts to hopefully stop these problems. Even if you take really good care of it, it could still break on you. But if the warranty is still intact, I would say go for it.

I'm on my 3rd xbox 360. I had a premium which last a year and a month. I then purchased an elite during its launch and it died. I got a refund and ordered another elite. My 3rd elite has the new heatsink in it and it runs much cooler than my other consoles. I took very good care of my last two. I used an intect notebook cooler because it has an aluminum surface to absorb heat. I used two 4 inch desk fans. One for the back and one in on the side. I had a system that allowed more hot air to be blown from the rear, more cool air to be blown into the console and the laptop cooler to cool off the bottom where the cpu and gpu were located. I even dustsprayed periodically in the back to prevent dust from attaching to the back fans. I also wiped my console everyday to rid the dust. I would play an average of 4 hours a day, not more than 5. The only time I would exceed 5 hours if my friends came over to play and we would play an average of 6 to seven hours. Rarely to go 8, and rarely my friends came over to play. Anyways I was very meticulous with my xbox 360 consoles. I had the constant fear that it would break. I played less to ensure that it would maintain a healthy lifespan, and boy was I wrong. If your buddies 360 is a year old, it could break within a month and above. I don't mean to scare you because your buddies 360 could last 5 years without breaking, but with the current statistics, its probably not likely. Your buddies console could possibly die within a month. I am sorry to break it to you, but this is reality. I would wait till the 65 nanometer chips come out.

I would say buy it. 320 for 3 games and the whole premium shbang is a pretty good deal. If it breaks (w/ the red ring) and the system wasnt tampered with, send it in for free and get it fixed. Hopefully Microsoft is actually fixing the problem at this point.

But dude even with this 65nm chip Mircosoft isn't guranteeing that this will solve everything. I mean the problems could still continue you gotta admit there is a chance of continued problems at least?

I would just go buy a new premium/elite. I can't stand used things. I just have a thing about buying brand new things.

Of course theirs goes to be more bugs, that's why they extended the warranty to 3 years. I can't believe that Microsoft is just doing this whole new warranty system out of good faith.

buying used things is a good idea. But not when it comes to systems just go buy a elite or something! I would only buy used controllers man because face it 50 dollars is a bs price for a controller! Its as much as a game!

Chyea get it, people who say yours is probably gonna break so just get over it is wrong. Sucess to fail rate isn't even close at all, not to say its acceptable. However, im on my first one that ive had for over a year and it runs cool, never gets hot at all and I play an average of 4 hours a day. I don't go out of my way to clean it at all or keep it cool except ill occansionally take a little rbreak here and there to let it chill. I keep mine in a open space and don't leave it on for days at a time.

best thing you can do is wait and spend the money on the new 360's later this year. That way you will avoid all the headaches the rest of us have had with the 3 rings of death. Trust me, but if you dont, just remember I warned you.
