I just used a memory card. A transfer cable would be a lot easier though.

What makes no sense is why the transfer cable doesn't come with the Xbox in the first place...

I have done both in the past, used a memory card but it didnt move ALL game saves for some reason my wife's viva pinata save wouldnt move. I of course only moved the saves on the card to cut down on time and went to my download history and downloaded all my DLC again. This was a long time ago, now it would take forever with all my Rock Band songs now days.

The transfer cable thing is easier but time consuming. I had a nearly full 20gb drive and transferred it to my 120 replacement. it took an hour and a half to get it all moved and of course you cant do anything during that time. My suggestion: If you get a transfer cable (the best way to do it) hang on to that thing like it were gold. I'll never let go of mine, I've heard it can be difficult, or at least it used to be hard to get.
