If you wanting "true" 5.1 surround sound you gotta go higher than $60.
This is my setup and well its going to run you about $150, but worth every penny.

that headset with this 5.1 converter.

I researched headsets for like a month before i bought this since spending $150 on something i never even used seemed crazy, but very worth it.
Together you got some really amazing sound and the mic is like the homing beacon of sound. It will hear you across the room. You said you weren't interested in a mic, but its a really good one still. The sound is clear, its comfortable (never feels heavy or hurts your ears), you can step on it and it won't break, wife tested this one :(
It sounds good without the DSS converter, but if you want the 5.1 your going to have to get it. Every 5.1 set has one, some come with the headset. Either way to get a "good" set your going to spend $100-$200.
The only bad things youll find with this set is the minor noise when everything is quiet, but how often are things completely quite? This doesn't bother me at all, but thats person to person. The other is the amount of cabling. Be ready to untangle this puppy quite a bit. Get past those two things and you got top of the line 5.1.
This headset will work with your PC.
