They're splitting because Bungie is not totally owned by MS now, they just have a few share on the company though they'll focus more on making games from MS than from other companies.

Basically, Microsoft isn't their boss anymore, they can do whatever they want, but all of their games will still come to 360.

It means Bungie gets to make more decisions on what will go into their games and when they will be released.

Microsoft still own the Hlo franchise, so you won't see that anywhere else, and they still get first pick of all the games bungie make, that seems to be all that's happened.

Coorperate ownership/partnership isnt like a relationship between to people. It doesn't matter if they make games for them anymore, they are a self-owned company, with no parent coorperation in control anymore. Your reasoning is silly, that would be like saying EA is owned by microsoft, sony, and nintendo together, simply because EA makes games for all of them.

wow - is it really that big of a deal. They did split but that doesnt make it a bad thing. They dont work for MS and now can make anything they want but MS will still publish them. They are on their own now and that "techincally" means they have split.

There just an independant company but they said there finished with the Halo franchise menaing other companys can publish it now. But they said they would market more for MS since they have a good relationship, but yes they can still make games multiplat.

while that is technically correct MS still has first choice of publishing so if MS wants to make one of their new games exclusive they still can.

Even with Bungie leaving Microsoft still owns the rights to Halo. They can do what ever they want with it...even a Halo cart racer if they thought that would sell. Bungie has already said that they are currently working on another Halo project. So I think we can still expect great games for our 360s from Bungie. Everyone wins! Lets just hope that Halo cart racer never pops up.

Microsoft still has a minority sharehold in Bungie, so they are still partially owned by Microsoft. Microsoft just can't force Bungie to make certain games anymore.
