Other Rareware games are on their way too!

Sweet. Goldeneye + Perfect Dark have more title than every 360 title combined. If Perfect Dark comes out and has online multiplayer - my life is over. If they can add XBL, they can update the controls. I wouldn't be surprised if they upscaled the textures and resolution too because these games had built-in 16:9 and high-res textures.
The other day my friends and I were like "Hey, we are bored and goldeneye is awesome so lets play it" ... "YEA MAN!". Then we proceded to play it and I don't know how I enjoyed that game back in the day. I couldn't control that thing if my life depended on it.

Well actually there was a remake on xbox and ps2 and maybe gamecube, but they were really bad in comparison to the great entity which was Goldeneye for the N64.

It wasn't a remake, it was just a terrible unapproved sequel. They were trying to get some free money. The game was awful. They literally had a dude with a golden eye in it.

It's not a remake, here's from the Gamespot review:
"GoldenEye: Rogue Agent bears a similar name to Rare's Nintendo 64 first-person shooter, GoldenEye 007, which was a first-person shooter take on the Bond movie, GoldenEye. GoldenEye 007 is remembered as a classic, as one of the best early games for the platform. Yet this new game has absolutely nothing to do with that game, apart from belonging to the same genre, and it only has passing references to the film (namely the inclusion of the character Xenia Onatopp). By resurrecting the name, but not referencing much of the GoldenEye material, the whole game feels like a cheap attempt to cash in on the nostalgic feelings that many have for the Nintendo 64 hit. It's perhaps the most "evil" thing about GoldenEye: Rogue Agent."
The title will feature updated graphics, and of course an all-new Xbox Live multiplayer. Not only that, but we have found evidence that Rareware is planning on releasing even more of their back catalog onto Xbox Live Arcade, specifically, Perfect Dark and the original Banjo-Kazooie. Expect more on at least Goldeneye 007 later this year."
::foams at mouth::
Yeah, what that other guy was thinking about with the xbox was Golden Eye:Rogue Agent which was a bad use of the Golden eye name where you couldnt even play as James Bond even though there were some familiar Bond villains in there.
Original Goldeneye > A crapload of other good games > constipation > that bad use of the goldeneye liscense

I agree. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark(N64) is far superior to any FPS out today. Maybe not in terms of graphics but in gameplay and replay value it kills everything. In fact I believe the Halo series actually bit off alot of the weapons and effects in PD64 such as the duel wielding, cloaking and shield effects as well as some weapons.

We're talking about the N64 Goldeneye not that peice of crap that came out on the Xbox PS2 and Gamecube. I would rather play this for hours than Halo 3 or COD4
It'll be funny watching all the backlash on Goldeneye when people actually remember how awful the controls were and those explosions would absolutley destroy the frame rate.
They better completley rework the control system along with the graphics or it's just going to be unplayable.
they plan to update the graphics, they will fix the damn framerate and update the controls to, the N64 did not have dual thumb sticks. It'll be funny watching all the backlash on Goldeneye when people actually remember how awful the controls were and those explosions would absolutley destroy the frame rate.

The controls were amazing for the time. It proved FPS games could be done great on consoles. Perfect Dark is probably the biggest console FPS ever made. It has a decent single-player campaign, a coop campaign, a counter-coop campaign, a mission mode (that is much longer than the campaign), probably ~100 weapons, customizable characters, stat recording, ~12 different AI settings, completely customizable game modes (and lots of them), and just endless options.

dude, the controls stepped the genre back 5 years to doom and duke nukem where you cant look up and down. I think turoks controls were more amazing because you could actually look around for prolly the first time on a console FPS.[QUOTE="GodLovesDead"][QUOTE="Tamashii-sosaku"]It'll be funny watching all the backlash on Goldeneye when people actually remember how awful the controls were and those explosions would absolutley destroy the frame rate.

Turok's control scheme was in there too. There's no point in arguing with it because for it's time Goldeneye was the best controling console FPS for its time and years to come.

Your thinking goldeneye rouge agent. And yes it sucked. This is the original!

Have you two even played any FPS games since goldeneye came out? Goldeneye may have been great for its time but its hardly superior to modern FPSs. You can't possibly try to argue that GE64 is better than Half-life, Half-life 2, Bioshock, COD4, Halo, or Crysis just to name a few.

hey the reason why golden eye for the xbox sucked so much is cuz EA made it, Rare made the first one which was a classic game, but as for EA they killed golden eye

Turok wasn't even comparable to GoldenEye. Turok 2 was good and all but it had nothing on Goldeneye. And while levels were flat, they weren't completely flat. Several levels definitely required you to aim upwards and downwards (especially in multiplayer). And it wasn't difficult at all.
google Goldeney Source all you 007 lovers.... its a sweet mod for steam
its free some guy made it... source engine.. quite fun but pretty dead
