This would be totally sick, especially if there is online multiplayer. And since Rare is owned by Microsoft, why can't this happen?NicAgenttoo much lisencing issues. original perfect dark might make it. (maybe with some goldeneye maps)

The game would be garbage to play i this day and age we live in. Lots of things have changed and if u go and play that game now u will see what I mean. It was great for its time but many things about shooters have changed.

Are you kidding? The only reason my N64 isn't boxed up and shoved under my bed with my SNES, Dreamcast, Xbox and GC is because of that game... OK, the Singleplayer game is showing its age, but you still can't beat a no-weapon slapping match.Rare developed the game, and Nintendo published it since they both had the rights to a 007 game. Activision has the 007 rights now, and Microsoft owns Rare.
The licensing nightmare makes the game a possiblility for XBLA and/or Virtual Console, but it will likely go to neither.

Well PDZ is horrible for one. two the reason Goldeneye cant just be thrown on XBLA is BC Whlie rare did make the game Activitison (or some other big Co.) owns the 007 game License which means they have to get the OK from them + Nintendo is trying to get the game on its VC which adds to the problem. Personaly I hope it comes out for the 360 because they add multiuplayer and HD to allmost all of their XBLA games while VC has none
I second this...Start a pertition. Problem is EA now have the James Bond property. Not that M$ doesn't have the money to solve that tiny problem. And it'll be a sure-thing hit.rodimus_prime85
I don't know about that... have you played Goldeneye recently? It hasn't aged well (in my opinion). I loved it when it was the first great console shooter, but it's so far behind in terms of gameplay that it's not even fun now.Â
Unfortunatly EA owns the right to any future James Bond games, so there is no way Goldeneye could be re-released. It's really a shame, since EA is such a horrible developer.
Anyway, it is probably for the better. Goldeneye would not be very fun now. The simple gameplay just wouldn't hold up nowadays. There is no way you could recapture the enjoyment level of the original back when it came out.Â
I used to absolutly LOVE Goldeneye (hence the username) but it kind of does suck now. I played it a few weeks ago and it really doesn't hold up anymore.Â
I think the chances of Goldeneye coming out on live arcade are pretty much next to nought. There's no way that Microsoft or Rare would be willing to shell out the cash to buy back the Bond license for the sheer sake of a mere live arcade title. It's just got good business sense. Unless Microsoft buy back the license with the intention creating an all new Goldeneye game by Rare then it's pretty much an impossibility.
Â
As for the original Perfect Dark, I suppose it's possible but I think Nintendo would also still have some say in it because they owned Rare at the time and if I remember correctly also published the game. Castelvania may have been a PS game but it was published by Konami and who were in no way affiliated with Sony.
Â
It would be great but I think the chance of any of Rare's N64 games making to live arcade are almost impossible for the reasons I stated above. Jetpac was made before Rare was aquired as a first party developer by Nintendo during the lifespan of the N64. Obviously I also pray that I might be proven wrong.

I agree, don't ruin your memories by going back to play old games like goldeneye. The fond memories are best leftstored in your mind. If you went back and played it again hoping for the same fun you had 10 years ago you would probably cry and then curl up in a ball under your blanky screaming "whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?"

Fun?Â
People just need to forget about Goldeneye. It like all those Capcom vs Marvel Games now. Licensing nightmares
What we should want is a Remake of Perfect Dark. Most people forget about PDZ is...The game itself was Fantastic. It just lacked polished. If they were able to get some polish in it and fix alot of the technical things. It would have easily been worth that 9.1 if not more. What I think to redeem themselves and the PD franchize is to remake the original.
What they should put on Live instead is...Killer Instinct. Another 10dollar classic fighter with some online would be a nice quick port and be pretty dam good.
And finally...A sequel to Viva Pinata. They had something their with it. Add in a bit more, more online stuff. And MS...Actually get a demo out. Get some more advertisement out for it...aimed at adults instead of kids. It is alot like Harvest moon or Animal Crossings. It would be one of those fanatstic games for non gamers or people who like Sim lifeÂ

Ugh not this again...can we please leave the dead horse alone?
Yes we all want Goldeneye for XBLA but it wont ever happen, to much red tape.Â

Acenso
i agree with almost everything you said. I thought PDZ was pretty fun but if they could put more work into a new one it could be one of the best games on the 360. And yes, i would love to play Killer Instinct again, don't remember too much about it except that it was like MK with finishers and stuff.

Half-decent gameplay... Perfect Dark was pretty good. Perfect Dark Zero is trash. Goldeneye is incredible, I wish we could see it on 360.Â

I think it would suck. I go back and play Goldeneye from time to time, and i dont see how it would work with the 360s controller. Goldeneye was good for its time but if you go back and play it, it's not that great.
