I miss having halo parties... but since we all got xbox live, we just meet online...but having people in the same house yelling at each other is much more fun...a55a55inx
I agree i miss system link gaming. Its been so long since i did it.
Don't know why you guys stopped doing it? Hell playing online with your party in the house or just laning is always a good idea. Although I don't play for GS, having it is a very nice touch, especially when you get something that is particularly hard or creative.ryokinshin6x3
Most of my friends play COD4 and system linking sucks for that game. I need more friends that play Halo 3 lol.
I care about k/d the most, but as long as it's over 1.0 it's good. Sometimes I'm just not that good to get that even like Halo 3. I get to a high enough level where my k/d is erratic. My gatherings now are usually about Battlefield: Bad Company parties over PSN.
People that don't stop playing 1 game for anything else is lame.
the best social system for me was he SNES, playing Street Fighter 2, Super Tecmo Bowl, NBA Live 95, and two player shooters. Good times indeed....Lostboy1224In my opinon the best console for local multiplayer was the n64 with games like mario kart 64, mario party, goldeneye, and smash brothers, and I agree with TC and now its harder to play local multiplayer because the hi definition, you cant see anything in split screen (halo 3 for example)

yeah me and my buddies used to play halo 1 all the time and after a while we would just see who could get the warthog to do so many flips off of the tank
It has become a competative virtue. Some people want a hobby and want to get into something hardcore, and if they suck at sports and are good at video games thats what they nwill become competative in. But I do remember back in the day where I would play duck hunt or use the track pad with my NES at friends house and we would take turns playing for most the night, or playing Goldeneye on N64 all night long in split screen. It wasn't until I got my first gen xbox is when we would set up clan matches on some web site (I forget the name) for Ghost Recon and RB6 and we would be competative. On 360 I have not gone to that far extreme, especially since I only had my xbox for a month now and I suck at all the games I play online because I am figuring out what I am doing. But it has become somewhat of a social thing, but it does help seperate. I have someone I play with that is close by but instead of going to each others house we always just meet on LIVE.

That much I can agree with... Alot of my friends have split up on games. While it's good to have variety, at least with the original x-box most every played the same game. Now me and my friends are split up between Halo, Call of Duty and Gears for the most part. And even my friends are split up between different Call of Duty, Gears and Halo games.
I kinda like all three series, but it's annoying when I sit there and play some Gears or Call of Duty with some of my friends but they can't do me the favor of at least playing some Halo 3 with me at least once a week or even a month.
ohhh..
Yeah! Super Mario cart on the game cube:) Good times!
I still remember some of the big super mario moments, like getting to exited in a hard right turn, moving my whole body in the direction I wanted the cart to go, then throwing myself down on the floor when I got totaly out of control:)
It was`t so mutch fun om the wii:(
(but it gathered the old SMC gang)
Now there has always been people who have taken video gaming to far and become obsessed with things dealing with games, but I agree with what you said. This generation of gaming seems pathetic. All people care about is trash talking online making one another feel like crap if they don't have enough "Skill" in a game.People care to much about leaderboards,so much where it is to the point that they cheat and ruin the online experience for everybody else.Achievements and trophies can be fun to get sometimes, but at the same time people have once again taken it to far by bragging about them, boosting for them online and just doing things that make no sense.I miss the good ol days aswell.K1LLR3175I agree with you there, I play games for fun and thats all. I know people would rather win than lose in games, but cheating to ensure that is just pathetic, people care more about useless things like achievements and gamerscores than the actual game itself, and developers are forced to deal with that. Like Sony telling developers that they have to put trophies in every game. I too miss the days where games were about fun above everything else where the only achievement you cared about was beating the game or beating friends or getting a higher score than your last. Instead of nonsense like get 500,000 kills and win all the time which promotes those who care for these silly things to stoop to cheating.
My friends and I usually just do the whole co-op stuff. I think all the co-op campaigns they are adding into games is great. Put it on the hardest difficulty and have a blast yelling at each other for screwing up. Gears 2 has horde mode and that is alot of fun to play at gaming parties.
Can't wait for Starcraft 2 tho thats when we will probably acctually play agaisnt each other.

Sounds like somebody is a lil emo....
jk
The thing is that once you get good at a game people stop playing with you because they know they will lose
I play COD and Halo a lot and got good at them so now when i have people play me it's not fun because i'm to good for them to have a good time
Hey guys, just finished playing Gears for the night and it got me thinking. I remember the good old days when you and acouple friends would go over to a buddies house for the night and just play video games all night long. Those were the best days ever, game wise for me anyways. No one cared about gamerscores, or there record of kill/death ratio. Everyone, no matter how good or bad, had a good time playing. I find now that gaming is moving towards this almost single player sort of idea where you either have to all play alone at your own houses, recover a profile, or take turns with one persons account. I find this sort of depressing because I think that gaming should always be about having fun with everyone and your friends. Just throwing that out there. Anyone agree/disagree?a_ethier
i totally agree with you i miss lan parties so much and people playing other games jsut besides games like COD and Halo. What about Smash and some other fighting games?
Sorry, but i have to disagree, i've played with my friends at my home or they home since i had my first console, which was a Sega Megadrive btw (I'm european) i did the same whith my ps1, ps2 and i was doing it with my X360 untill I moved to Madrid to start working at EA Games.
Since that day i had my sacred "Friday Nigh of Gaming" mhich i still enjoy thanks to internet conexion between machines.
I think it depends on the people and what they like the most... offline or online, alone or with company... in my case is 50% both cases.
Just my point of view of course...
