Goodnight 360!

Well I'm in trouble now. My 360 no longer finds any of my discs readable, which means I can no longer watch dvd's or play games on disc. I can only play xbox live arcade games or download stuff through the marketplace. Anyways I called microsoft and they want me to spend 150 bucks to repair it. I thought my unit was supposed to be repaired for free since I got it at launch, buy I guess I was wrong on that one. 

Well I told the lady on the phone that I wasn't going to pay that money and that she needed to give me a reason why I should get a system repaired that breaks after only one year of use. Well she didn't really have much to say to that. Anyways what do you guys think? Should I get the system repaired, or save my money? I've gotta admit I'm thinking about going to a competitors system. Or maybe I'll just get a powerfull P.C. and have access to all the mods for Oblivion.

I would in fact get a new one in your case i would usually tell people to get it repaired nut because it is over a year old i would get a new one!

Ya I didn't realize how dependent I was on my 360 untill now.

I thought repairs were all free now with the all consoles made in 06 are repaired for free rule and the newly extended warranty.MTBare

well my console was made before 06 because I got it at launch which was in 05.

Ya well I thought that also but the lady said microsoft wasn't doing any free repairs right now. It's all a bunch of B.S. to be perfectly honest with you, I mean the lady couldn't even speak english that well. I'm not going to even let myself get angry about it I'll shift brand loyalty. Probably to nintendo or P.C. Maybe I'll finally pick up a PS2. It kind of sucks because there were a ton of games I was looking forward to that were exclusive for the 360, but I just can't support a product that isn't reliable.

Actually I'm almost forced to buy another one or a get this one repaired, just in order to keep playing with the friends on my friends list. I can't let those guys down, there is still so much playing time to be had.GrahamKracker7

when was your system manufactured? if it was manufactured in 2005 you are supposed to get it repaired 1 time for free no matter when it breaks. If it was manufactured in 2006 onward you get a retroactive 1 year warranty on it. the only way I can see your system being out of warranty is if you have a system that was manufactured in January '06 or early Feb '06.

Edit: Oh and I know this to be fact because I had a system manufactured in Nov of  '05 and just recently got it repaired in mid January of  '06. If it's truly a Launch Console you have unlimited amount of time to claim your "First" repair on the system.
