get both if you can they should be around 20-30 dollars now but if you can absolutely get one then you should probably go for 2 since it has better multiplayer..but i think you should only get halo2 if you have xbox live..if you dont have live then dont get it. go for the first one because it has an amazing campaign and i think its overall better than halo2

If you want to get involved with the storyline then get both. But if all you want to do is frag some friends online, get Halo 2.

Halo is just a aim and shoot game.  get a game that involves skills like Mass Effect.  Save your money for Mass Effect because even if you do get Halo 3 right now, EVERYONE will be playing it even the little 8 year old boys with high voices.

Halo + Halo 2 + Halo 3 = Awesomeness

Blacksite Area 51 + Mass Effect = More Awesomeness without 10 year old boys

Halo was alright, but Halo 2 was a lot of fun.  Too much of Halo was walk down this nondescript hallway, kill some bad guys, now walk back down this same nondescript hallway.  At least Halo 2 has Online to add value to the game.

For the love of all things holy.

BORROW THEM, I bet an e-dollar you have a friend that has both of them.

I borrowed Halo and Halo 2 to play and beat them. Halo 3 will be the FIRST Halo purchase for me.

I had an Xbox and have a 360 and never played them, with the exception of a little Halo 2 multiplayer fraggin' at my friend's house. Looking at the beta and seeing how passionate all these people are about Halo made me want to try out the single player campaigns finally, so I picked up Halo CE a few days ago.

It's really good, and I see what people are getting out of this game. It's not innovative by any means, but it's exactly what's missing... a straight first-person shooter. It doesn't try to be clever like PDZ with all its stupid little gadgets, and it doesn't overcomplicate things like Rainbow Six does (not that Rainbow Six is a bad game, it's an incredible game). It's everything you loved about Doom and Quake and all those in a modern package. And although I haven't gotten into Halo 2's single player yet (Halo's pretty tough!), the MP in that game reminded me quite a bit of playing GoldenEye back in the day.

It's just a very well-made series. And although I'm no Halo fanboy by any means, I'm quickly getting more and more excited about the upcoming release of what will certainly be Game Of The Year: Halo 3.

Youre not missing much. Played 1 and 2. Nothing amazing at all, just overhyped and overappriciated. Standard shooter with standard playstyle and story.

I have the beta of halo 3 and there are WAY too many arrogant fanboys in it. Halo had a nice bt not outstanding campaign and halo 2 is only fun when playing with friends. Even then I don't really like it. I'll never buy Halo 3, there are far better games out there.

Im kinda the same except i never even borrowed them. My cousin has both and i've just played through them both with him on co-op. Games are soooooo much better when played on co-op.

same here. well, once played ten minutes of halo2 single player...

i like the Halo3 beta, but because i never played halo before i get owned a lot. but i keep on trying. yestrday i won my first game (oddball) and i'm a level 12 now. Still, i don't think Halo multi player is it for me. i rather play co-op games. i'll try the team matches next

Or you could just save yourself the money, instead of wasting it on the realization that "wow these games really are overhyped to hell". Maybe go rent one first if you absolutely must play it.
