Got a used 20gb system from Gamestop, and I failed to realize that it did not come with built-in Wi-Fi. And when I discovered that the adaptors cost $60+, I was aghast.

So, I was wondering if it would be at all possible to go trade in the system for a different version with Wi-Fi. I wouldnt mind paying the extra money, as long as it has the wi-fi

Depends really on the person you're trading with...What i would recommend is to use ethernet as its best when playing xbox live to have full speed at all times.

There are ways to trick the 360 into thinking it has WiFi if you hook it up to a laptop that has WiFi in your house, it is cumbersome

I'd say go ethernet if you can, but if you can't just buy a WiFi adaptor

You won't be able to trade the system for a Slim with WiFi. You'll have to pay a huge difference. Let's say you spent $180 on it with the 20GB HDD, then a 4GB would be $20 more but you'd be losing a lot of memory, a 250GB is $120 more. Go online and buy a WiFi adaptor off your local craigslist or ebay for $30-$40 or go ahead and buy a used one at gamestop which is $50 (or $45 if you have their discount card)

yeah i would say just keep it now as you will get very little money for selling it to gamestop and it would even be hard to get a good amount for it on ebay now with the slim model being out there. I would go wired or hunt down a wireless adapter.

Id buy the 4gig slim xbox and buy a 250gig hard drive for $50, i always see sales on 250 gig HD's for the 350 for $50. check amazon, ebay, craigslist. also check those places for a cheap wi fi adapter cause the old one are cheap too.

FYI , you can plug Ethnernet ( sound something like that ) from your laptop to your X360 USB cable then can go online without getting the Wi-Fi thingy . you can check them at youtube . :)

Take it back to the Gstop and tell them what ur problem is. Be sure to tell them u were not informed and did not know about the lack of WiFi. I'm sure they will work with ya to make it right.

If you plan on playing online you should use a wired connection, wireless connections are usually 30%-50% slower than a wired connection. And the only one's that have built in wi-fi are the slim models and they cost between $200-$300
