When I power on my xbox 360 slim manually the green lights do not turn on at all, not the ring lights that indicate the controllers or the power light in the center. The console runs and I can play games but when I try to turn the console on with a wired or wireless controller, it will not turn on. When I try to turn the console off with a wireless controller, the console turns off but the controller does not. Any help? It works but im afraid that it might develope into a worse problem, and I just got my xbox back yesterday from repairs for the loud fan.

Was it repaired at a mom and pop repair shop or did you send it back to the manufacturer? If you send an item to an unauthorized repair facility, there's no telling what they could do to it.

Does it make a sound? The slims have touch sensitive buttons that have sound.

Yeah, I hope for your sake that this is not the case, cause this definitely sounds like the culprit which caused the problem

sorry for such a delayed response, it was repaired at the microsoft center in texas covered by my warranty. I believe now that is a completely different system because the games I installed to the hard drive run off the disc, and when i try to run game off the hard drive (i know the disc still needs to be in the tray), the system tells me that I need to reinstall the games to the hard drive because this is not the original system that it was installed on.

I dont know if this is relevant, but the system I sent off was a Reach edition and the one that was returned to me, if its not the same system, is also a Reach edition.

More than likely they did -- they'll refurbish and sell your old one. My little brother's first xBox 360 was out of warranty, but they told us to send it back anyway (it was the red ring of death) and they simply sent him a brand new one. We know this because it was bright and shiny white, and his wasn't so white anymore. (We'd had it for a while.)
