With the PSone and PS2, the cost of making games increased rapidly, yet the casuals as well as true gamers bought the system hence both type of games sold

Now as usual, costs have gone up only now, the casuals and lessers have been snapped away to the Wii leaving little people to buy the PS3/360.

As a result, games have stopped selling NEARLY as much, and the Wii is a shadow of the PSone/PS2 in selling software (buh buh teh Wii Sports:cry:) and with so many developers closing, there is only one outcome for this gen

I think the exact opposite. There might have been a crash (still most likely not, but more possibly) had Nintendo made a console akin to the 360 or PS3. By bringing in a whole new type of gamer, they're expanding the market far more then Microsoft or Sony. That can only be good for games.

And then suddenly you see games like Flower, Geometry Wars, and Braid--a return to the small but entrancing games we loved in the old days. Not to mention, these games are usually done on much smaller budgets and yet are garnering praise (Who'd have thought a DLC game like Braid could actually earn a 9.5? PS. I can see why.)

I didn't know theories and predictions were facts, and I'm pretty sure gaming is doing a megaload better than it did years ago, thanks to game systems like the Wii.

Fact: a crash = cheaper product to the consumer. I would love to pay less for games. The cost to make a high end game will remain high, and there would be fewer, but my bank account could use a rest.cainetao11

But aren't games actually selling more, or is this just a delusion? I mean nearly every shooter on 360 breaks a million, CoD4 and Halo3 set record numbers, consoles haven't sold like ps2 but multiplat development still keeps the overall userbase up and so on. I do agree that development costs have gotten out of hand tho,

Almost every ps3/xbox 360 game breaksa million. I don't think an exclusive first/second party game (except rare games, and lair) haven't broken a million. And then include gta, cod, bioshock, left 4 dead, etc. It seems like gamers are buying more not less.

A lot of the time, one mill isn't enough to turn a profit anymore. Though games like CoD, GTA, and Bioshock sold WAYYYYY over a mill.

And with this they are four failed Wii-bashing threads from FirstDiscovery! 8) Just kidding! :P But seriously, you should really come with a better argument than "buh buh Nintendo FORCED the casuals to buy a Wii" or "buh buh buh the high costs and low sales are all the Wii's fault", because no one is taking them seriously. And adding the word "fact" doesn't help much when you are the only one that think they're facts ;) Good luck with the next one :)

The line was directed to challenge No_Quoter's assertion that less money means a cheaper product resulting in cheap rehashes. Braid is a terrific game (I own it) that I understand was created on a relatively very small (for gaming) budget.
