GTA4 HMV pre-order...early release?

I went to pre-order GTA4 at HMV yesterday (live in Canada)...I recieved a slip stating to pick up the game April 28th, game will only be held for 24 hrs. Now, they also provided me the free gamepics...and on the back it states the release date is April 29th.

Is HMV releasing the game early or something? Sorry, i would have asked at the store but noticed the date thingy after i left. I find it kind of odd the street date would be incorrect on their slips, i mean they must have given those out to MANY people who expect to pick it up on the 28th...

No mention of this being midnight release...it specifically states April 28th

yeah i'll be picking the game up at 10 pm (april 28th). i pre ordered the game and the guys at gamestop said i could go around 10 and i'd get it. but you know what sucks? i don't get to play the game till thursday!! because from monday to thursday i'm away at college and i get home on thursdays. still i have 4 days to plays the game but it sucks that i will have to wait two long days here with the game on my hands.thecobraholder

yeah.. i would be pretty excited about it if it wasn't for what i talked about. but yeah man i can't wait. i was pretty happy at first when i heard about it.

HMV sells games? I never knew that. But no shop has the right to release a game earlier than it's due date unless it's OK with the developers.is0lati0n

HMV, in Canada anyway, started selling games about a year ago...Im starting to wonder if the street date is April 29th but retailers are allowed to sell early, under their own will. I am aware the publishers will usually make it aware that the release date is specified and cannot be sold earlier...I just dont understand how HMV could put the wrong release date on every single slip they give for pre-order? Doesn't make sense.

Guess have to wait and see
