the gameplay is pretty repetitive and can get frustrasting
but the story is amazing basically its like playing a better version of The Departed
its story can win academy awards

I loved GTA IV the story was insanely good and actually had some good plot points. My major beef was with the collectible nonsensce for some reason finding pidgeons is alot harder then secret packages. But going online with friends is so fun. The graphics are very nice considering the scope. And there is a lot of replayability. I wish rockstar had added Jet Packs Planes and Tanks though but oh well.
maybe they added all the vehicles everyone complain of them not having. I dont think they added a plane though. I dont see a plane needed in this game.I loved GTA IV the story was insanely good and actually had some good plot points. It's only as good as you make it. Personally the missions are nothing more than drive-shoot-get away. But if you open your mind. there's no limit to the things you can come up with. There's even the hilarious mechanic about driving up to a fat hooker in a beat up old car, and her not getting into it. People had to sit down and spend hours, just for that small detail!
As for your friends hating it,... that sucks. Because multi-player is awesome. But only when you play with people you know.
To me it seemed like a down grade from san andreas and really repatitive. They removed the cool things such as planes, the racing was alot better in the last ones, the duel weilding guns. They did make it more realistic but it was still stupid easy. The cover system addition made it to easy, and often glitched for me. Found you cary way to much ammo, also made the game easy. I was hopin the turn to being more realistic would actually mean it. I did enjoy the game somewhat but was incredibley disappointed, i thought they would keep the old concepts and add new. I was really hoping for the same RPG elements in san andreas.
I Liked the story but thought it would be more epic, and the two choices you have to make for certian missions didnt really seem to have that much impact. the ending is both cases is generally pradictable, similar and not satisfying.
For me to buy the next one they will have to signifigantly change the formula. I want it be the game where it is more realistic, hand gun primary weapon, type of clothing dictates how much ammo and what kind of guns u carry. bigger guns would have to be based at strategic points before mission. and that missions would require more cunning and less im just gonna role up blown these MF's with a bunch of RPG rounds. Like a blend of Hitman/Assasins Creed(the suspicion sytem)/splinter cell and a hint of the old style of games.
This game made me loose faith in using reviews as a guide to buy games. Honestly no matter how good a game is it does not deserve a 10 our of 10. No game is perfect, especailly gtaiv. I doubt i see a game ever being without flaws and fully satisfying which results in a 10/10.
GTA IV isn't even as good as saints row 1! there is way to many glitches and theres nuthing to do after you finsh the game the missions are boring an i advise anyone to buy saints row 2 instead of GTA 4 as GTA 4 is a let down! i dont know why its rated 10 on gamespot :S SlurminatorIt's rated a 10 because rockstar took the GS and IGN employees to a huge release party where they played it the whole weekend with all the snacks, drinks, and thai masseuse (probably) you can ask for. Plus I imagine they only had time to beat the story. Its after that you realize how crap the game is cause you hit a wall of boredom.
it is so realistic, that the gameplay isn't fun anymore.
in saints row you can drive a septic tank while wearing a hotdog suit, in GTA4 there are a few clothing stores and they all sell serieus clothing.
i believe GTA4 takes itself to serious, like saints row doesn't do.
Well I have a Xbox360 and I was wondering if i should get GTA4. The reason I'm asking you guys is because most of my friends think GTA4 is repetitive, short-lived, and boring. What do you think about GTA4?Freighter14what else do you have in ur mind? Saints row 2?
It's really good but not as fun as SanAndreas.laser-pointerthis. u can do looots of things in san andreas plus the environment is huge in that game and thats what made the replay value of it so amazing. i spend about 100 hours on san andreas. exploring the cities took me quite a bit of time.
