Only thing I don't like about it is the loading. If it wasn't for that, I would want to play it much more.Bullet_Holes
It wouldn't have been that bad had the devs been able to use the HDD to cache data. Whose idea was it to make a 360 model with no harddrive? There's MS's marketing for you.
You might want to rent it first.tunasandwich395
yeah. I bought it right away and didnt like it. traded it in for burnout after 2 days.
Mass Effect is one of my favourite games in a very very long time. I loved it so much that upon beating it I didn't even get up from my couch I just hit the start button and started a second playthrough right then and there.
I highly recommend purchasing it, but at the very very least you should rent it to give it a try.

Loading times FTL! Check out Penny Arcade's hilarious comic on nitpicking Mass Effect loading...

What? Then, I guess, you haven't played the game.[QUOTE="doomsoth"][QUOTE="Spirit_Warriors"]the reviews are nice but the game looks like crap -_-paul52181
Yea or you didn't play it on an HDTV. The only graphical issue I had in this game was texture pop-in.
Ive seen my friend play it, he has an HD tv, a nice one & still not impressed.
Mass Effect is a phenominal game for the most part. The story is wonderful, the voice-acting is off the charts good (most video games have sucky acting; this one rocks), and the characters are just as memorable as those in a Final Fantasy game. Bioware really outdone itself. Also, the graphics are great. It's not the best looking Unreal 3.0 game (that goes to Unreal Tournament 2007 or Gears of War) but it's certainly one of the 360's best looking games. And most importantly, the battle system is fun and interesting; it plays a more like GRAW than Gears. You have to stop and think, otherwise you die, especially in the harder difficulties.
However, it isn't perfect. For one, the game's framerate is... Incosistant, which is a shame considering this game's production values elsewhere. Anytime you get into a major fight with more than 2 enemies the game starts to slow down. When you have Biotics and Techs flying, it gets even worse, going to a snail's pace at times. Number two, the load times, while not horrible, are noticible. It also seems to say "loading" at the stupidest times. Number three, the planetary exploration isn't fleshed out like the game claims; there really isn't much to do on these worlds. Finally, the texture pop-in is among the worst I've seen in any 360 game. Only Bioshock ranks up there with it, but at least Bioshock's dark atmosphere kinda hid the pop-in. Pop-in is a major problem for Unreal 3.0 games that I hope is fixed one day.
