I would play rock band if it didn't cost so dam much and the drums don't interest me so why pay a shedload more for something i aint gonna useGMcConville92
I agree completely since I can play the drums in real life, Rock Band didn't really interest me as much as GHIII, but if they ever made the controllers compatible with both games everyone that owns GHIII should play Rock Band at least once, because it's amazing.

I was in the same mind set. I wanted to pick up Guitar Hero 3 but could not find it with the wireless controller so I figured I was going to spend 100 on GH3 so what's another 80. I wasn't interested in the drums but now find them fun to play. I find RB to be a game that will last me longer than what GH3 would have.

You can use the GH3 guitar for Rock Band. You just won't have the effects switch.

That is true, I totally spaced and forgot about that. Thanks though, that just gives people another reason to just go out and buy the game and not all the instruments and crap and play it.
I would opt out for the Les Paul (GH3) controller, but pretty much the guitar is useless because the tilt functionality doesn't seem responsive 95% of the time, making star power utterly useless. Star power is pretty much the most essential part of the series, and if I can't even activate it, there's no reason to use Les Paul to begin with. So I'm going with the 2nd one. It's smaller design, wimpy whammy bar, and small strum bar may be a design flaw, but at least it works.rockstar_88
you can just press the back button to use star power instead of tilting the guitar... its easier to press it on the gh3 guitar since the button is bigger then the gh2

Pretty much pressing the back button detracts from the experience to begin with. I play Guitar Hero on the harder difficulties, not a lot of people can hit the back button and go back to the strum bar in 1/4th of a seconds time without seriously damaging their streaks. Some of us want that 100% note streak. When it comes down to it, the GH3 controller is still seriously flawed.
i fink i might actually give RB a bash, i didnt know you could play it with the GH guitarGMcConville92
Rock Band in the end is a seriously better game. I'm not saying Guitar Hero sucks, because I'm very competitive when it comes to playing that game, but Activision seriously screwed something up to the point where Guitar Hero III lost some of its fun and charm that was in Guitar Hero II. Yes the track list is better, but it its assembly of everything else just made it a bad experience. If you have the money, opt out for Rock Band. The drums may not interest you all that much, but unlike Guitar Hero where you're being made fun of for playing with an instrument and knowing you may not have any real serious music skills, the drums mimic the real thing to the point where you are actually playing the drums if you play it on hard, and you're actually playing the drum part of each song note by note on extreme.

i could still get 100% note streak on hard or expert. i don't use my finger to press the button. the gh3's back button is designed so that all you have to do is press it with your palm while your finger is on the strum. unless your a lefty then the back button would be on the bottom

Good to hear. Only thing is you cannot use the Rock Band Guitar with Rock Band (for future reference.)
you got to rephrase that hehe

Hm. I'll give it a try sometime. That's pretty cool you can "palm mute" the back button lol.

but i feel that the gh3 frets are too stiff. some times its hard to press it down compared to the gh2 guitar. the only plus side to the les paul is that its wireless. when ever i play gh2 gh3 or rockband i always stick to the x plorer
