so the only guitar hero song i get for free is the dragon force one? i have to buy all the other ones like the red hot chili peppers ect....

well you dont buy them with real money you buy them in the guitar center store with the money you make from playing shows. to get the DLC those you have to buy on Xbox Live

I could have sworn there was a red hot chili peppers song, but its not on the list, do i have to buy that? or whats the deal with that?

Red Hot Chili Peppers is on Rockband, although they were on Guitar Hero 1 which wasnt released for the 360 so they released a song pack with that song in it for Guitar Hero 2. But there are no Red Hot Chili Peppers songs in GH3

The in game bonus songs are mostly indy bands which you buy the same way you'd by a guitar or new character, while the downloadable songs are ones you have to buy with MS points.

You're correct, now that you mention it. 5 or 6 songs are coop songs that you can only do in quick play. My mistake.

RHCP is a co-op encore. You have to play through co-op career to unlock co-op encores (6 songs in total). As for the other bonus songs, you purchase them in the store (either go to options --> store, or go to store while entering career mode).
