Alright so I finally bought guitar hero II, i never played the first one. Damn this is a hard game. On medium it is pretty much a breeze, but on hard and extreme, omg!

I thought the song would only get faster or something on hard, no way. The whole song changes. It is like playing a different song. Then on extreme the song changes again, it is like a whole new song. This is actually very cool because it ads more to the games depth.

I play the real guitar, and this game gives you a since that you are playing the real thing. I have to say though some of these songs on extreme I think are going to take me more practice to get 98-100% on than the time it would take me to learn the song on my real guitar. No crap there.

I can see why so many people take this game so seriously. On hard and extreme it is much more than just a rythm game. It is a beast all its own. It is the closest thing to feeling like you are a musician with out being one. I am not just saying that either. It gives you a real since of accomplishment.

Well after many hours of practice I will make a youtube video trying to get 100% of extreme. Or at least 100% on hard dang it.

This game is really fun, but I don't own it, reason is because I suck and I am too lazy to learn on how to play the game. I tried it out on Easy at Virgin MegaStore. It was so difficult for me, trying to adjust to the buttons on my guitar to the ones on the screen. I kind of gave up on it and kind of regret it. Mabye later on I will try out Dance Dance Revolution though.

Yes, we know. This is not a topic. This is a blog. You basically just reiterated everything we already know about the game.

I own the game. And I;m just settling into Expert. Honestly, which you get over the huge hill that is learning the orange button, its not that difficult.

While I do like this game I do not agree with you eintirely. For one if you really seriosuly played guitar you would know that GH in no way really gives much sense of playing a real guitar other than how you hold it and the genberal motion. I for one have never seen a guitar with just a single string and only 5 frets. You seem to take it a lot like real instrument playing which it's not really. This game is very fun however, quite a diificult game on extreme.

Well I do really play guitar, I have played for 8 years or so, and this game gives a good since of being a musician. It makes you feel like a rock star when playing on hard and extreme. Some of the finger placements for cords are so similar to the real thing. Like when you have to hold down green and blue, or green blur and orange at the same time.

I was suprised at how much it feels like playing a musical instrament, considering there are only 5 buttons. Like I said learning some of these songs on extreme and getting 100% or close to it, is as hard or harder than learning difficult songs for me on the guitar.

The fact that you only strum one thing does not really make a difference, considering when you play guitar what string you hit is instinct. You no longer think about it, and it becomes as if you strum one string. Even when I finger pink and do spanish songs. It just becomes natural.

So if any gamer wants to feel like a musician, then get this game and get good at it. It is the closest you will get to feeling like a rock star playing a video game.

guitar hero 2 is a pretty tough game, but once you bridge the gap from medium to hard, it's not as hard (but some somes are still effin hard)

I am on the Fretwork levelon Hard. I barely made it through The Trooper, but I was really really drunk, so...yeah.

The orange button takes a little getting used to, and since I play guitar as well, for the last 15 years, I can say it really helps you in this game. Once your fingers "learn" the placement of the buttons, and some of the "chords" in GHII, I see no reason why I can't be playing the Free Bird Solo 100% in a couple weeks of practice.

It's all about muscle memory and timing. Perfect for a real life guitar player.

Oh, and the fact that you can do hammer-on's and pull-off's makes it that much more realistic...to an extent.

I play guitar and the game seems easier on hard than medium now people that dont play guitar and actually spend time practiceing the songs on the game by the option why waist all your time try to learn songs on the game when you can play the real guitar which i believe is alot easier than the game its self

It may be the closest you can get but still pretty dang far from a real guitar IMO. To everyone else don't think if you can do this game that you can play a real guitar or vice versa. I know people who actually play guitar and can't do worth crap in this game, and people who are amazing at this game and can't play a guitar worth crap, or people who can do both like myself. It may incorporate fast figer movement and strumming, but hitting 5 different buttons in one row is still completely missing the horizontal aspect, which is a huge one, of guitar playing. Again, I'm not saying this isn't a fun game, I love it, I'm just amazed at how you can even say it's close to playing a real guitar since you actually play.

why would the orange button be a big deal? I don't find it any different than the green button. I play with my middle finger mainly on the yellow button. Pinky for the orange. I change that if the song piece has lots of green. But I always default my fingers back to middle finger on yellow.

I find it is easier to do the harder parts this way.

And yes I agree with the other person, just because you can jam on this game does not mean you will be able to jam on guitar. However I think anyone and I mean anyone can learn to play guitar. Well if you are not mentally handycapped.

It takes lots of practice. I was told I would never be able to play guitar when I first started, because i sucked so bad. And I had zero rythm. But I practiced over and over until my finger tips bled. I can now play classic spanish songs and jazz, which I find to be the hardest type of music to play.

I loved this game on the PS2, but I didn't like the feel of the new guitar. I used to press the star power with my palm because tilting the guitar always made me mess up. The buttons are smaller and square. It is better on the PS2 IMO. But I'm sure it's equally as fun on the 360 after getting used to the controller.
