I was wondering if anyone knew how to play long notes on the drums because I have tried to hold the pedal down and everything and can't seem to figure it out.

You should probably do the drum tutorial in the game! I believe long notes are supposed to be repetitive hits.

I did both drums tutorials just for it...and they never mentioned it whatsoever.

Maybe they're drum fill spots like Rock band where you do improv and hit something at the end to activate star power/overdrive.

I'm pretty sure you have to keep hitting the required pad for the duration of the sustained note.
