So I finally let the gadget freak inside me get the better of me and ordered a Kinect.

I've made a little post about why that is a scary prospect for me and what finally won me over here:

So I finally bought a Kinect

But what I basically wanna ask is; did I just waste my money or are you having good use with your Kinects?

I don't have Kinect and I won't be buying it, but I messed around with one a few times and they're fun. Gimmicky, but fun.

I consier myself to be a hardcore gamer and I received a Kinect as a Christmas present last year. While I don't use it all of the time, it is actually pretty enjoyable! Dance Central is surprisingly well done and even Kinect Adventures is pretty fun. For me, the biggest downfall of the Kinect is that it is something I tend to use only when I have a group of people over. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy it!

i dont think there is much to regret... if you like dance dance revo type games, dance central takes them to an all new level where you actually have to DANCE. gunslinger is amazingly fun. also, some of the voice and movement integration for games like Mass Effect 3 and the new steel battalion look like they are going to add real value to the game. while i think the kinect is certainly being underutilized, i dont necessarily see it as wasted money.

Depends upon how you look at it. I had no desire to get a Kinect, but we bought one after the kids begged and begged last year. If you go into it with an open mind it's really fun, but it's limited on what it can do. Games like Dance Central, Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures are really fun party games. It's also great for exercise games. Not having to hold the controller when exercising is great. My wife uses it for EA Sports Active, and Your Shape Fitness Evolved all the time.

The kids still have friends over on the weekend and they play the crap out of the Kinect. However if you are expecting it to be a replacement for a regular controller, or are only into core games then Kinect will probably disappoint you.

Alright, doesn't sound that bad at least ;)

I actually am looking really forward to trying out Dance Central.

Also Gunslinger is supposed to be pretty alright, I hear

Plus the new dashboard update seems like it will include a lot of kinect functionality.

If you bought something, and the first thing you do is ask how much you will regret it, then maybe you shouldn't of bought it?

So they can return it unopened is my guess. I did this with "L.A. Noire", well I got cold feet about opening it, read some user reviews and decided it was worth the price. Kinect: It's a nice improvement over what the Wii does. So yeah, group party game fun, exercise assistant, "Dance Central" is pretty amazing as a dance instructor. There is a ton of potential. If it can teach dance then why not golf? I am surprised that more is not being done with the tech.
