last i heard, the graphics for half life 2 on xbox were not as nice as those on the pc. how well will the graphics for hl2, ep 1, and ep2 fare on the 360? i mean, if its not as good, i can get the box for ten bucks cheaper on pc

360 graphics will never be better than pc graphics...just look at crysis in very high settings. the 360 and the ps3 will never look like that imo.
Well the difference b/w both versions will be minor however the one advantage for pc is the mouse and keyboard setup.
HL2 will look pratically the same as the one that was initially released however ep.1&2 will have enhanced HDR bloom effects just as ep1 was on the pc.
I am still thinking of what version to get b/c i can hook up both my pc to my 62inch so thats not a problem.:D
But TF2 on 360 will be much better b/c of the xbox live community IMO
i was mostly wondering because half life 2 is older and, although eps 1 and 2 look good, they are nowhere near being as beautifully crazy as crysis

Very true, but not alot of people can invest in a $3500 gaming computer. Even the PS3 price tag is up there.

Naw, controller wins. The couch factor is too much for the keyboard and mouse. Nothing like playing on a 46 inch tv while relaxing on a nice comfortable couch.

Well u are right about the controller being more laid back however I have a hdmi hook up from m pc to my 62inch and i have a wireless keyboard i i just sit on my couch and play(the mouse and keyboard set-up has much more control)

You're right about Xbox's not being as nice as the PC version. As far as this version of Half Life 2, it WILL look better than the PC counterpart, as it uses the updated engine that was used for Episodes 1 and 2, which has better lighting effects, etc.
In regards to Ep 1 and 2, it will probably not look as good as a high end PC, though it's really hard to say because Half Life 2 isn't that demanding of a game from a system resources standpoint. To the poster who mentioned it, this game is quite a ways off from Crysis from a technical standpoint.

Incorrect. Half-Life 2 for the Xbox 360 has been upgraded in visuals to match those of EP: 1 and EP: 2. There has been no word on a patch for the PC version which is very upsetting to me.
i doubt they would patch the game with a brand new graphics engine etc that they made for the 360, more likely the pc versions will be the same, if you do see a better version released i reckon your more likely to see a orange pack brought out for the pc with it on rather than giving it away to existing customersdjrobst
Hopefully a new mod will be introduced.
HL2s engine doesn't requires alot of power (on todays machines/consoles). Itll run fine with all the features PC users have on. However, dont expect it to be a polished product, Valve isnt known for going the extra mile on things.teebeenz
Um, every single Valve product I've bought has been very polished.

pretty sure its got nothing to do with whether PC has better graphics than 360 because we already know it does. he was asking if the 3 year old hl2 will look better than the PC version as it is an updated version, and it probably will have slightly improved graphics for its console port

exactly... kinda-sorta
In this case, the Half Life 2 original will look better on the 360 than the PC version ever will. Why? Because the PC version is still the same way as it was when released, no changes. Since then, Episode 1 kicked up the graphics, only for that Episode. Then Episode 2 take it even further, but again, the PC HL2 still is the same, no changes.
However, Valve has said the HL2 version for the 360 will use the enhanced graphics since added for EP1 and EP2, thus, the 360 HL2 version will look better than the PC version wtihout taking into effect any resolution and AA and AF settings. I can't wait to play it.
I can't wait to play it again, such a sense of atmosphere and enviornment. The xbox version probably was so dummed down it killed that experience. I originally played HL2 it on PC on all high settings with probably 16xAF and 2xAA at 1280*800, ran smooth.
Some screens I took back in the day on my PC. Noticed with 8x-16xAF turned on (does nothing to performance), the tracks stay sharp way into the distance, plus the walls, not washing out like a lot of 360 games such as Halo 3. So hopefully the 360 will have that enabled otherwise the game will probably look bad despite any graphic updates. I mean if a video card I'd sell for $50 can do this, the 360 better:
