I got the halo 3 edition 360 in november and i play it about 3-7 hours a day everyday up till now, and i still havent gotten any RRoD's or any problem whatsoever. Mine is still scratch free, and i clean the controllers and system once a week. But my friend has had a 360 pro for bout 3 months longer then me but he only plays it for about 2 hours every couple of days and hes gotten the RRoD's a couple times. And 2 of my friends also have the halo 3 edition and they still havent had any problems. So is it true that the halo 3 edition is more reliable then the regular ones?

The Halo 3 was one of the first Falcon consoles - so is it true that it is better than other Falcon consoles? NO - they all are more reliable. It is true however that it is most likely going to be more reliable than pre-Falcon models of the console regardless of which model.

The newer consoles codenamed "Falcon" have different motherboards and their CPU is cast on a 65nm die size as opposed to the 90nm size of the earlier consoles. The smaller die size means that they run cooler and more efficiently which makes it so they are far less likely to get the RROD.

There's more to it than that - but that's it in a nut shell. All of the new 2008 consoles are pretty much assured to be Falcon's.

A big part of the problem with the RRoD is that the Xbox 360, from what I understand, currently uses lead-free solder, which sucks. The heat generated by the unit causes the solder joints to fail thus resulting in the RRoD.

Here's a question for you guys that have a better understanding of technology than me... I read on another website that alot of the RRoD failures were due to Microsoft using lead-free solder... any truth to that?

what datadream said: the halo 3 edition had that falcon chip before the regular 360's did, making it more reliable. Nowadays every new 360 has a falcon chip, so it should be about the same.
