On G4 they had an interview with a guy from Bungie and he said that the Arbitor joins Master Chief for a little while in the game but he's not their the whole time, because they have a "Fragile Relationship"(or something like that). So I don't think that in Co-op one person plays as the Arbitor and the other as MC. I think both people will be a Spartan...

Why does them having a "Fragile Relationship" rule out or not rule out being the arbi in a Co-Op game? Seeing them both on screen in the same level makes it at least practical that in co-op one would be MC and the other the Arbitor.

Maybe your optional Co-Op player changes through out the game, that level its the arbitor, in a different one it could be Johnson, or a marine, and solo levels it would just do it old style and have a 2nd MC. I don't know, but to me it just makes sense that you and a buddy could play as MC and Arbitor in Co-Op. Even read in a artical about bungies behind closed door SP demo that Bungie hinted at arbi being the Co-Op guy.

Probaly beacuse he is a covanent elite and thinks that master chief is a demon. just a thought.
Elites are no longer part of the covenant. Atleast the Arbiter and Half-jaw anyways. Im thinkin that MC feels unconfertable going against his instinct and fighting along side an Elite so he gives Arby a warning. I know I would.
Who did the elites take with them when they left the convenant? They had to take another group based off of the ending of halo 2 (the second to last level i believe)

Yes but in the Halo3 E3 trailer it showed the Arbiter and only 1 other Elite. You could only see hislegs and partially his left arm. Im thinkin its Half-Jaw but Im not sure.
i hope i halo 3 they actually tie in some of the story they presented in the books into the game. Like the 2 missing spartans who are actually m.i.a not k.i.a like all the others.

Halo could be compared to this genertaions star wars. There have been no good movie storys that entrance people for a long time. Halo could be that story even though it is a video game the story is excellent and the books help that story out. on another note does anyone kow about the remaining spartans that are alive?

Kurt, MC, and some others. As far as we know Kelly is still alive. They think Kurts dead since hes listed as M.I.A since hes heading the Spartan 3 project.

and everyone on the bungie.net foruns and yes you will play as arbiter in coop on some levels because hes gotta have a purpose for fighting along side you and also it was confirmed by major nelson that halo 3 has 4 player coop
I said some others. Linda died in first strike when a Jackal shot her from behind but Dr. Halsey was able to flash clone what was damaged and bring her back. They stored her body when she first died in a cryotube.

Yeah,I want to know what's going on there too. For the record, it crossed my mind that you could play co-op as both characters on certain levels. Only one way too find out.....

as for you who dont want to there are technically....4 spartans still alive 1 MIA and another left the spartan program to "start a family" the one MIA got lost in space so hes dead most likely. the 4 still alive are MC, fred, linda, and kelly (im not gunna say where, if you want to know really badly you can pm me or something)
From the way things look you most probably will play as the arbiter in co-op.This isnt really that bad except for that god-awfull armor hes wearing, i mean does any1 even like it. Bungie whants to make co-op with both of them ok, after the first level they take away the arbiter armor and give him the golden comander armor from the beggining of Halo2. Which is obviously way kick @$$. Im sorry i like the arbiter except for his armor.
