I purchased a xbox 360 and halo 3 game a week ago. i was able to play online but not single player. after the cut scene it would say unreadable disc then would restart the game. i checked for scratches and had lots so i ordered a replacement. i checked the replacement for scratches..it had none so put it in hoping to be able to play single player....the exact same thing happened. i took the disc out and saw a little scratch so i thought maybe its the console then coz whats the chance of the replacement being defective as well...unless its a faulty batch. currently its being fixed by mircosoft but im just wondering do you think its the game or my console. i can play dvds on my xbox (havent tried other games coz like i said i only bought halo 3 with it)

This sounds like a problem a buddy of mine had. We attempted to play system link and he was getting an error when loading the campaign (he had finished the game prior with no error), it would load to 75% or so and then crap out. We were able to load the first level successfully, but it wouldn't load anything beyond that.

I had the Collectors Edition and he had the standard version so we switched discs and amazingly that worked, but now (months later) he tells me that no discs work, even movies and now he needs to send his system in for repair.

So I would guess that the console will at some point crap out on you, but you're lucky since it's new, you should just be able to bring it to the store and exchange it.

I'm actually getting my 360 back today after sending it in due to the Unplayable Disc error.
