First off i loved the ending, but thats beside the point. I dont think bungie would end the trilogy with a cliffhanger like that and not make a game out of it... so where do you think the franchise will go next? It probably has nothing to do with marathon because there are too many things that dont fit between the two games. My theory is that theMC drifted for hundreds or even thousands of years and that planet has something to do with the forerunners. I dont really have a clue what the plot will be but i think that there are still forerunners on that planet and this will be the game to answer all the unanswered questions about them. What do you guys think?

How do you know that planet he was drifting towards is not Earth hundreds or even thousands of years in the future? Its very possible it could be the forerunner world, earth or an alien planet. What do you think?

well since the ark is almost 300,000 light years away from earth, he would of had to be drifting for millions of years to reach earth. But i guess it is possible and he would encounter an evolved form of humans. That would be pretty cool.

i think they should just leave it how it is, because i don't want the halo franchise milked any more than it already has been. plus, a lot of the best movies and games released have trilogies, such as lord of the rings, star wars, mexico trilogy (once upon a time in mexico), matrix trilogy, super mario bros nes trilogy, metroid prime trilogy and the nowhalo trilogy of course. im a strong believer in leaving it's greatness at a trilogy, that is all.

True but it wouldnt be halo. It would be another game in the same universe. I really want them to make another game cause i wana see what that planet is. Also this could be that movie/video game Peter Jackson is working on

Its probably nowhere near the section of space that humans and covenant were in. After all, the forerunners in the milky way all killed themselves. So if it is a forerunner world it not in the milky way or just on the outermost edges of it

but still, if they are an advanced civilization and it was their own past, i think they would know about them. but i guess they are advanced so they could have pulled some Men in Black mind flashing thingy on them.

lol at deadnight.

I think people who follow games closely know that they are making another trilogy set in the Halo universe. It's the Peter Jackson/Wingnut interactive thing. check wikipedia

nah i dont think its onyx because i think onyx is covered with biology much like the Halos and the Ark. That planet looks entirely artificial.

First off, I hope you know devs 99% confirmed that Marathon is Directly related to halo, and IRC a head dev strongly suggested that the main character in Marathon IS master Chief (In some Game Informer issue, don't know which one)

Also, Cortana explains that they barely made it out of a portal or the likes of it.

And knowing the nature of portals in Halo 3 alone. He could be drifting absolutley anywhere and it would not be crazy.

My initial thought was that it was the bulb part of High Charity,(start halo 2's campaign for all of 10 seconds andyou can see the Images were similiar)

even though that would completley annihalte any incling of theis being the conclusion, because that would mean the Gravemind is still alive.

So I stray away from that idea.

Am I the only one finding it easy to avert my attention to other isues, ignore this completley and just wait and see?

No more halo, but possibly marathon. Anyway i'f you have the legendary or collectors additions you can see the populations of different species. There was like over 100 million profits, 3 trillion hunters, etc. So i doubt its over, there too many covenant left. Do u rlly want it to be over with a cliffhanger like that? Come on ppl i want more halo or marathon lol

I really hope its not marathon because i want something new. I think the covenant is broken up now though with the death of the High Prophets. Also the legendary edition mentioned something about the "precursors", an ancient race superior to the forerunners. It makes me wonder why they would just bring up something like that completely out of nowhere and never explain it...

I like how Bungie leaves the ending to Halo 3 up to the gamer to interpret.

I don't think the ending was meant to set up any future sequels - it was a brilliant way to and keep the universe alive in our imaginations. It would've been disgraceful to have a neat and tidy happy ending with a big parade on earth, and would've been depressing to kill off MC. This way, MC is alive and on his way to new adventures with Cortana.

I think the bigger reason for ending the triology is that Bungie reached the limits of the gameplay possibilities. They couldn't stray very far from traditional FPS or it wouldn't be "Halo". The problem is, FPS is getting stale - more games will be making the jump to a GoW-esque 3rd person approach. Bungie wants to branch out and innovate...
