Halo 3 > gears of war

Halo 3 is better than gears. Halo has a bigger variety of weapons, vehicles,and 16 vs 16 action. Everytime I play gears its either a shotgun or chainsaw fight. There isnt really that much strategy and the cover system makes the game have boring gunfights. The detail and graphics beats halo but Thats it. Halo has the best story and the best multiplayer.

Wow, Halo 3 isn't even out yet. The BETA isn't even out yet...

1) halo 3 is 16 players total... not 16 vs. 16.

2) if every game is a shotgun and chainsaw fight... then how does shooting and taking cover take place?

3) you havent played the beta... dont act like you know about halo 3 or games in general.

4) halo 2's storyline was atrocious.  even big halo fans would agree with it.

5) play GeoW until you are actually good, then play the beta of Halo 3... then you wil have an actual valid opinion. 

they are two completely different games so in my mind they can't be compared.

It's hard to say that halo 3 is better when it is not completed yet.

However, in my opinion it has VERY tough competition.  Not only was gears amazingly fun, rewarding and well done.. it felt extremely fresh!

Bigger is not always better, it may not have a ton of weapons but with the exception of the hammer burst and magnum, all of them are alot of fun and memorable imo.  The 4 on 4 is more intimite then a 8 on 8, and the maps cater to this kind of mentality/feeling.  Just because halo allows for more people to fight against each other doesn't mean it is superior; even haveing more multiplayer modes won't mean its better.

to tell you the truth...Im not sure right now.  Granted, it's the beta, but I have a few problems with it so far.  (btw I've been playing it all day :)...gotta a friend who works for mac who did some video editing for bungie, so he hooked me up :-)!!...anyway:

1: The needler, although not duel weildable anymore, is way, way too powerful.  If you get close enough

to make your crosshair red, it's an instant kill.  Its even more effective than the battle rifle for mid

range kills.

2: The man cannon=stupid idea.  It basically like saying "Hey guys...look, im in the sky, kill me."

3: The Carbine also seems a bit overpowered, they can definitely just tweak that a little tho.

4: The graphics, while pretty impressive at some points, aren't what I expect from bungie,

but then again it's just the beta.

Now...even with these few complaints, the game is addicting a hell, I've been playing

since like...8:00 am.  So yea, its fun, and the new "equipment is rly cool too.

except the bubble shield...

Anyways yeah Gears is really good multiplayer i just hate the glitches and host advantage...those things ruin the game. I think that Halo 3 will be better though

this is an easy one for me because I may be the only player not crazy about Halo . I bought the first one and didn't even finish the game. I am also not a big fan of first person shooters because you can't see what's around you . GOW is exactly the game I been waiting for and its the best shooter ever. The graphics are insane and the online multiplayer is bananas. I will wait for GOW2 instead of Halo 3.

dude, gears hasnt even been out for a YEAR. 

For goodness sakes! Halo 3 isn't even out yet and like others have said, it's all subjective.

Some people may prefer the huge firefights of Halo, whereas others may enjoy the intensity of playing a 4v4. Stop making statements when you haven't any evidence to back them up yet.

I'm open-minded atleast untill I play the Beta, and even then I won't know for sure.

Umm, no.  You probably just cried because you couldn't "finish the fight."  Why don't you man up and admit that Halo 2 was fun?

I couldn't really get into Gears of War, but I see its potential and its general appeal. Halo 2 I find to be very fun, and have already pre-ordered Halo 3 and bought Crackdown for the Beta. But Halo 3 is not out yet, nor is the Beta. So, I believe this topic should be titled: I think Halo 3 will be > Gears of War.

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad someone else thought that funny too, cuz Gears is all about one on one shotgun (granted if people are truly skilled it is not, but most aren't skilled). I love Gears, and its the only game I've played since Oblivion. But IMO (which isn't important I know), I actually prefer Halo's artistic style. I don't know I love the detail in Gears, but so much darkness and grittiness isnt' really attractive after a while, wheras I love how the new Halo 3 maps are vibrant and full of life. And sure, the gameplay is like Halo 2, but so what, that's a good thing. Also, I am a big fan of objective games, and annex didn't do it for me, but nothing compares to Halo CTF.

As for the campaigns, Gears was the best since Halo CE no doubt, though the story was not nearly fleshed out enough. And I don't know about you guys, but I think Halo 3's story will be more epicer. and hella fun. I really think that with over double the dev time of Halo 2, they'll make something really special. 

And if you think that's all that will be new for Halo 3, and that we've seen it all, you're sorely mistaken. How many could have foreseen the Arbitor? I guarantee that there will at least be 2 more weapons and vehicles.
