It lasted roughly a month for me, then I realized that it really isn't that fun. I was sold by the hype. The day after I got CoD, I sold Halo to a friend.
It will last a very long time. I stopped playing it when I got COD4 but can't play COD4 for very long with out running into a ton of campers. So now I'm back to mostly Halo with some COD4 here and there.
Overall, the Halo novelty has worn off a bit but Halo 3 will live on for years to come just because it is so fun.

Dude, I think its already over, there have been like 10 games that are better than halo 3 since it's release back in september, not to mention bioshock. But CoD4, Orange box, and Mass effect are way better than halo 3 and I think CoD 4will out last Halo 3.
Call of Duty 4, is so much better in my opinion. Much more realistic, better graphics IMO, and just basically everything. Too bad LIVE is acting up a bit...
meh halo 3 got old fast. Its always the first person to get shot dies or it ends up shoot shoot punch dead. Halo pc though will never die:D modding maps is always some good fun and also i like COD4 alot better than h3. Its alot more of a challenge cause when ya shoot some1 in the head it actually hurts or even kills em in one shot compare to halo and takin like 10 shots to the head and still standin but theres always gonna be the people that can find someway to have fun with h3 and the MLG people will still play and try to win more cash.
why all the hate for halo 3? yeah it's not GOTY or doesn't have the best single player but it's MP is probably the best for consoles honestly and I like COD 4 way better. Halo 3 is the most fun online shooter on a console game to date and imo I won't play it forever I've played it for about 2-3 months non stop but that's about it but I know I'll play it at least once a week for a year or so if not more until something better comes along, and it'll last until the next great online shooter game comes out because COD 4 sure didn't stop Halo.
I agree with paradiselost, WTH was bungie thinking? Halo 2 was greatness... glorious. When bungie called Halo 2 a failure and actually APOLOGIZED FOR IT PUBLICLY (anyone remember that?) I knew Halo 3 was doomed.. I was like.. wait... no .. bungie who told you halo 2 was a bad game? They was all like "No we totally blew it, but don't worry. We make better game for you now." Halo 3 is the bastard child of that little exchange. Now they've left microsoft and I'm ready to laugh at whatever they come out with next - WITHOUT MS's help.
Story lost intrest after the First time Thought and MP...It is good just COD4 is way better and More Fun afert you get to a lel30 in Halo there is no more fun cause people play that game and are too good it is like they are Hacking. But I think another couple Years I guess I will go back and play every once in a while but I like RockBand and COD4 Betteer...
6hr 1st playthough on Legendary. 20 hrs to get all of the achievements and MP was fun for about a month IDK why but I played halo 2 until halo 3 came out and then I just stoped playing it period. Halo 3 SP broke my heart.
I know what you mean..Very Very Bad Story in this game..They rushed the whole game they should have taken their time..The first levl is the only one that looks good, and like you lose your connevtion to the Story prob have way in it but like the Last Levl was ok just like Halo 1 Ending Good But Could have been alot Better.
You guys just have to get creative with Forge. Zombie games outside of the map is fun.

thank you. the matchmaking is good, i think its just too similar to Halo2 and the hype lowered the impact that equipment and new items had on the MP. when you think about it, all the new stuff in halo3 adds up. but yeah the forge and custom game options and where its at. ive been making game variants and maps and have had amazing moments in custom games with friends, i dont go in matchmaking that much anymore. and when i get the new maps for free in the spring then its another level for me. (yeah i didn't feel like paying 10 bucks for the maps, not b/c they are not worth it, i dont have much gaming time lately).
bought it used so i could play campaign with a friend. im gunna bring it back and get mass effect or oblivion. i love playing halo on co-op but only the first time through.
