Halo 3 is in stores now? RUMOR DEBUNKED. Sorry for any confussion.

Some blog sites have been reporting that Halo3 games hit retail stores already (with pictures of Halo3 boxes), but it's obvious Bungie is not gonna ship their game 25 days early to retailers ... and anyone who visited a retail store recently knows these (empty) display boxes are everywhere (at least here in Europe). Anyway, if you're still in doubt...

No actual copies are available to any retailers yet. The photos that surfaced earlier were EMPTY promotional/pre-order copies of the game. Many retailers have had these for a while now. It was a hoax.

However, we are just days away from real copies starting to legitimately leave the manufacturing plant. We are doing everything we can to try and keep the game story secret and not have the game get out early but sadly this is probably inevitable. The earliest anyone will officially get a copy is some members of press which will be around 9/22. Reviewers are playing it beforehand but only at Bungie or MGS controlled events. Nobody gets a disc. And then their reviews are under an embargo until 9/23 and even then, they are agreeing to not disclose story spoilers in their articles. We're trying our best but once this baby gets momentum nobody will be able to contain it.

Oh yeah they definitly have the game. Or maybe they just have boxs with Halo 3 on them.

And if all you Halo fans are going to believe this and go raid a store then pick me up a copy of Heavenly Sword if it isnt to much trouble.:D

ok then why would you need all those boxes full of empty cases? that just doesn't make sence....

yeah, i'd say that theres a 97% chance those are just display cases, and i'm sure thats exactly what my local EB Games' back room looked like 2 weeks ago when they covered their entire front window with nothing but those LCE cases, with a Legendary Edition helmet in the center.

also, consider the fact that the game just went gold like 48 hours ago, so it's unlikely they would've started shipping them out now, mainly because i'm guessing they dont want to have every retailer in the world on a 3 week honor system. Seriously, would you trust your biggest game release to date with nearly every major retailer, and let them have boxes of the game sitting in the back for 3 weeks? I think not. I'm guessing that stores won't be recieving major shipments until about a week before the game actually releases.

Lastly, if you really wanna findout, go rob that store lol. headline: "Idiot Halo fan steals boxes of display cases" lol.

Does that mean that EBGames/Gamestop will be getting them in soon? I heard stories of how it was okay for employees to take the games home, play them, and then bring them back, rewrap them and sell them as new... a very shady business practice indeed. :(PikaPichu

I saw a truck outside the back of my local GAME store it had loads of boxes marked Halo 3 and Halo 3 Collectors Ed. I would be suprised if someone has not taken one... i would lol
