I'd imagine the ultimate Halo 2 noob combo carried over of Plasma Pistol overcharge + SMG/or swap to Battle Rifle still works pretty well. Never actually tried it in 3 but nothing really changed about those weapons besides maybe the SMG being a tad bit stronger.
