Orange Box. Half-Life 2 and Episodes 1 & 2= epic win. Team Fortress 2 = Lots of fun. Portal = best strategy ever.
I think the Orange Box beats Halo at the "more-bang-for-your-buck" idea, but Halo lasts longer and you can play it 2 years from now, and it'll still be fun.
Orange Box, I have Halo 3 and you have no idea of how much I regret buying that pos, Orange Box is a sweet deal.
Orange Box has the better value especially now that it is only about $20 new but Halo 3 has the better lasting appeal. I got bored of The Orange Box after playing through each game a couple times and playing TF2 for about 10-20 hours (which I did in the span of a few months) but I still play Halo 3 every now and then.
Orange Box for singleplayer, Halo 3 for multiplayer.
If you're asking for a recommendation, I say wait up for Halo 3: ODST as it will have the same multiplayer as Halo 3 but will include all the maps + all the map packs + three new maps.
But I still suggest you get Orange Box. After all, it is only about $20 new.
Well I guess it depends on your own personal taste. Have you played either of the games before? If you haven't I would advice Halo if you like Online gaming the orange box if you are mainly a single player kinda person (frankly Half-Lifes campaign is superior and portal is loads of fun).
If you tend to play online a lot then you almost have to get Halo 3. Team fortress is fun but frankly is one of those games you are not playing very often 6 months after purchase.
My personal advice is, if your interested in both get the Orange Box for the PC and get Halo 3 to add to your 360 collection, both are fine very fun games. (Orange box being 3 games). Wait for ODST to come out, HOPEFULLY a Halo 3 price drop will occur even though I somehow doubt it but everyone once and a while you get lucky on these things (you may have to wait several months).
Luckily everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and so am I. I believe some people's opinions are absolutely retarded. optimal:lol: get the Orange Box man. or is this thread from something else?
I needed some new coasters.Orange Box! 5 Games in one! I got it from Gamestop for 16€ (Used)

HL has the better SP of course but Halo has the better MP and it will probably last you alot longer i had the orange box and after i beat everything i sold it TF2 is okay but i doubt that will hold you for long. So id say it depends on what you want SP or MP you cant go wrong with wither though i would suggest eventually picking up both.
Let's see. I've been playing Halo 3 Multiplayer since September 2007. I stopped playing Orange Box a month after I bought it. I would have to recommend Halo 3.
To those who said HL single player is better, I beg to differ. Maybe it's because I played it on PC a long time ago but the SP is really boring with annoying vehicles and enemies. The vehicles in Halo are ridiculously fun to use and co-op always makes a game better. Not to mention the game can be replayed with different skulls activated.
Both...Scorch27

Exactly.Let's see. I've been playing Halo 3 Multiplayer since September 2007. I stopped playing Orange Box a month after I bought it. I would have to recommend Halo 3.

id say get the orange box first....you can find it for dirt cheap new...I got it in Canada new for 20 bucks...Halo 3 is also a great game especially when played online
Ha. Most interesting match I've seen here in a long time. Anyway, I guess personally I'd go with Halo 3. It present a more consistent package since the entire thing is one game. The campaign while not as long as all the ones in the Orange box put together has given me more mileage than all of the one in the Orange box thanks to 4-player co-op and experience enhancing debuff skulls. I actually find Team Fortress 2's multiplayer more enjoyable in some ways such as the complete lack of grenades. However, it's just not as long a lasting affair as Halo 3's multiplayer to me. In Team Fortress 2 there are only around five maps and only a handful of game types that are only playable on each particular map. Halo 3 has dozens of game types, over ten maps shipped with the game, a few additional free downloadable ones and a handful of others you can purchase. Theres also a limited map editor so you're incouraged to tweak the game to your liking. And the experiences can be immortalized with the theater mode. In this case I don't think theres necesarrily a better game over all, but a case where it's just what game better caters to your tastes. Both are fantastic games in their own right.vashkey
Summary:
I prefer Halo, is good! :D
I kid....
IMO it is a VERY close call... And I honestly can't answer it... :(
The Orange Box, there is tonns on just the one disc... Halo 3 single player campaign is a let down, but you need to finish the fight ! Halo 3 online is simply fun, excluding all the online muppets screaming into their microphones.
Halo 3 for multiplayer.
But the game's campaign is maybe a 7/10 or 7.5/10. Half-Life 2 has 3 campaigns that are better than Halo 3's, and Portal, which is brilliant (admittedly my bias shows through in my forum pic).
But if you're all about online play, then it's not really a question. Halo 3 has the biggest Live community next to Call of Duty.
If you want more people to play with on xbox then Halo. if you want more value and possibly fun then Orange Box.
