IMHO, i think the X button could be a shield boost, much like the one generated from the "shield grenade" in the trailor, but using this substantially drains your energy. So it would have a trade off, one second of invulnrability for a full drain of shield afterwords until the energy recharges. What do you think?bsager87
I thought it might have something to do with the shield grenade also. I think it has been said that it will not be for sure a cover button like in GOW.

Yeah, cover doesn't have any place in Halo. In fact, if Halo had a cover system I probably wouldn't buy it, I'm tired of hiding, I want a game where we just run around and shoot each other. I think, and hope, the X button allows for some kind of limited dash or rolling move. Its really annoying how you are pretty much helpless in Halo 2 if you are getting shot at as MC doesn't move fast and has no evasive moves at all. Of course any move like this would have to be balanced well, we don't want a bunch of people dashing or rolling like mad, people jumping like crazy in CS comes to mind.some one else had a thread about the X button in halo they said it might be to mute other players on xbox live which i thought was a great idea! =]

What do you think?bsager87i think that there will be a sheild gernade but it will be like a regular gernade (u switch it out like frag and plasma gernades). as for the x button, it will be 4 rolling around like in gears of war.
that would be so awesome. >.>some one else had a thread about the X button in halo they said it might be to mute other players on xbox live which i thought was a great idea! =]

I'm willing to bet $100 to anyone (paypal) that the X button is gonna be used to run. The A button is still gonna be to jump, obviously.
Think X and A on the 360 as Y and B on the SNES. Hold X down, and you can still press A easily and jump on the fly, a la Super Mario games.
Again, I'll bet anyone $100 this is what WILL happen.

lol good one man. haha.
i think the X button will be used to transform Master Chief into a version of himself which is 10% larger than himself normally. think about it, would make gameplay awesome.
god i hope someone understands im being sarcastic.

Ditto. I feel that Halo being a RUN & GUN shooter that they probably won't use X as a cover system, but it would be kinda cool to break up the pace just enough for something different.

That feature will be in the game, but that's not the secret "X" button feature.
all of you are stupid the x button gets inside vehicles and turents?psychosurfer10
No... you are stupid. Bungie has said that the X button in Halo 3 will be something different and interesting. It might still get you in and out of vehicles, but it will also do something totally new.

Really tho, if you want cover, play Gears of Vegas.NO, im sorry it would not be cool to put any kind of cover into Halo. im not even saying Halo is factually the best FPS, im saying cover does not belong in it at all. if you want cover, as martinez said, play something different. Halo is a fast paced game, anything that would break that up would slow it down and make it like everything else out there.

you've already won, they said it wasn't going to be a sprint or a sheild grenade or anything like that.

What do you think?bsager87I say that's too complex, lets keep it simple to broaden the audience and keep this amazing game series as popular as its ever been.
