okay now look I'm gonna say that halos mulitplayer(at least on the pc) is GREAT and gets 9.3 out of 10 but...the campaign is garbage,The Library(awful),the ice level(is repeated like library and you it twice) the covenant ship( same and is also repeated twice) the beach(actually pretty good) and the first level and the maw(no really good and also repeated. And you've heard this before but all you do is kill people(with driving here and there)Boring,Repetitive, and over hyped.I give the campaign a 3.5 out of 10,if it came in a seperate disc i'd throw it in the trash. Why do reviewers and gamers alike praise it and claim it is the greatest game of all time if the sp is so awful???

and yes I know i posted this on the xbox board

On an internet forum, your opinion alone doesnt count. The mass opinion does, and that is that the campaign is awesome. You shouldnt have made this thread. Kind of pointless.

I too think this game is over-hyped (all 3 of them). Halo would be the kind of game I'd play on a PC but not a console. The control scheme on a controller just doesn't work for me personally. I'm to used to the old keyboard/mouse combo. I do play the Halos but they get way too much praise. I for one am NOT buying Halo 3.

Because Halo CE single player though I agree is repetitive though name me a FPS that doesnt get a wee bit repetitive (ala Fear, FC, Resistence, COD, MoH, Killzone etc etc also).

The single player brought a well rounded action campaign with decent story, physics, detail and excellent scenarios that were well paced with great sound.

Played now it feels dated played on release it was as good as the best FPS released on the PC at the time and the PC had some great classics being released around that time too. Not been done on a console since Goldeneye.

Also the 2 player campaign was ingenius and brilliant on the Legendary setting.

\soo many Halo bashers just get over it. If it aint your cup of tea play something else.

You have to think about what a difference it made when it was released. At the time, nobody had made an FPS really work on a console. Halo changed all that, and now FPSs are one of the biggest console genres. Before Halo, people widely believed that FPSs would be unplayable without a mouse and keyboard. For that reason, if no other, Halo changed console gaming forever. Also, bear in mind that it is a six year old game before you pass judgement. Finally, recall that Halo was seriously rushed so that it could launch at the same time as the Xbox -hence Bungie had to recycle levels. They didn't want to do it, but MS forced their hand. And you know what? I'm glad they did, because without Halo at launch Xbox would not have enjoyed the success that it has.

what do you mean by 'changed all that' you mean controls for consoles?(strafe with left, look with right) because i suppose I agree but, that still doesn't make halo one of the "greatest fps' of all time" but it does deserve notice but not get all these awards and for some fanboys(not you in particular,I think) think its a timeless, yet it gets old in 6 years? well I guess ill have to agree with the making fps controls work in consoles

Dude, your speaking your opinion, and thats fair enough. Loads of people love the game, and play it to this day (me included, infact i was playing Assault on the Control Room yesterday). So what if it won all those awards? If you personally dont like it (and i think your crazy) then leave it. Other people obviously think it deserved them.

3.5 out of 10 because of the level design? The campaign brought a pretty interesting story with memorable characters and levels. The gameplay is so perfectly done and great graphics. The replay value was good too because of co-op.

Bungie is smart, they know how to hype a game up. The story leaves you in suspense, even though the story isn't good anyways. The music and drama plays a big part in it too. That first H3 trailer with the Master Chief slowly walking through the desert storm and then the light beam comes down and everything cuts off. They just know how to set the drama. I got H2 a few months ago (my first halo) and I hate it, but I'm excited about the next one and I'll probably get it within a week of release.

I'm no fan boy but the first Halo was really fun.... Halo2 was great also... And finally halo3 should be even better. I'm not that person to read the books and really concentrate on the stories... But the gameplay is great atleast to me... O and to add Halo 1 was one of the best FPS games I've ever played (at its date)...

Well, I personally didn't say it was "one of the greatest FPS's of all time" - I just said it changed console gaming, and yes, I meant by developing controls that worked on consoles. Controls I might add that have been copied or modified only slightly in virtually every console FPS made since Halo. Halo might seem a bit repetitive now, but a big part of that is that I (and many others no doubt) played it to death. It was easily the game I played most on the original Xbox, and I still play it from time to time now. The AI still occassionally surprises me by doing something new or unexpected. My favourite level is Two Betrayals, which is a repeat level. I actually enjoyed going back through it the other way - it made me feel like I was totally surrounded and outnumbered by the Covenant, and that every time the Chief fought his way through them they would just keep coming. It really reinforced the idea that the Chief is truly superhuman. The truth is that Halo, for all its minor flaws, had a huge impact on a whole generation of gamers. This is true whether they played Halo or not, because elements of it (most notably the control scheme) of Halo found their way into so many console FPS's, whether on Microsoft's or Sony's consoles. For the record, I am a huge Halo fan, but by no means do I think it's the greatest FPS ever. That distinction (for me) goes to Half Life for fundamentally changing the way that the FPS genre approached telling stories. But that's a debate for another day. :D

Are we supposed to care that you didn't enjoy the single player campaign? This topic really wasn't necessary.
