Halo Legends "a complete disappointment"

I'm not sure how many of you actually like Japanimation, but I think it is really quite awful. I was looking forward to Halo Legends and I really didn't keep up with it much until it came out so I didn't know it was going to be animated in a Japanese style and have a Japanese director. So of course they had the typical little whinney 3 year old dude with girl hair posing as an ODST and the bad lip syncing with the textureless animation I have hated all along. Why! To me Halo is as american baseball. Couldn't they have got an american animation studio to handle it? Was no american director free? It's just weird. The nerds wouldn't want one of their JRPG's americanized so why did they have to Japanize Halo. Oh well. I won't be watching any more episodes and I won't be buying the blu-ray like I was planning. If you agree with me let your voice be heard. If you don't, go watch Pokemon!

I thought it was great and so did everybody I talked to. (if you want to pay more and risk getting bad quality get those american animators =-(. )

There was an interview on waypoint telling the reasons they went for anime rather than american style cartoon which was they wanted to go for something more adventurous (and they were anime fans) and many of the rest of us like it. Your in the minority. Though not putting you down btw, japanese anime isnt for all.

Is Halo lore that great??? Why would somone bother to do that if the campaign leaves you guessing. (for example ODST Legendary ending) It leaves me and everyone I know scratching our heads. But i know someone will say "you're stupid, how can you not know". My response: I don't dig for Halo crap, its a game and the story is OK at best. that's why reach is available next year and I wont have to watch a crappy, Halo anime about some planet or something, I just don't care, for everyone else, go ahead, watch it,be my guest and if it was "dissappointing" i would say I told you so. Reach better be good.

Wow I forget after spending so much time on gametrailers forums how nice everyone is here. I was expecting an all out battle. Well, if i'm in the minority then that dissappoints me too. I just don't see the appeal. The animation just has no texture, and the faces, god the faces. Why are they drawn like that? Man, I must be getting too old. I would even prefer the animation style of Heavy Metal to this.

Typically yes. Stereotypes are usually backed by actual factual information. That would be how they started in the first place. Also if your wondering about my dedication to this forum. I work Road Construction and am off from November to March every year so I have a lot of extra time on my hands. Furthermore, I no longer have to worry about being "Mr Popular" or getting laid 24/7 anymore as I am married and have all the good friends I need and have had all my life, so kid doesn't really fit for me. I now take a very active interest in video games and everything to do with them since Istarted playing them again 2 years ago after not playing since around1995 or 96. So, I have left other things behind. Yes, I have strong feelings against media influenced by Japanese culture and maybe toward the people who enjoy it.

I saw the preview and it was ok. I don't understand why Halo of all games needed an anime. Not everything needs to be turned into an anime.GrandJury

I was never into anime style but I looked beyond the graphics and enjoyed the story. I thought it was going to be familly freindly without the blood with a typical happy hero ending but I was wrong. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

and TC I too thought the motions, lip synching and stereotpical american big eyes were a little dissapointing at first but the story, music and action violence made it interesting to me. It helps a lot that Im a fan of Halo as well.

Quite honestly, American animators are terrible. Especially for any form of serious animation. People just need to get it past their stubborn heads that "Japanimation" isn't for kids. There is plenty of stories out there for everyone. The art style is perfect for Halo and is a good refresher. Hopefully this short series catches on and we get more. :)

Why is no one pointing out to this guy that he's judging the whole series on only one episode? The episodes are all being directed by different animators with different styles. They aren't all going to have the same style of "The Babysitter". For instance, there's an all CGI episode staring the Master Chief that looks pretty bad ass.DJ_Magneto

My brother in law told me about it. I never saw footage of it at all. The only thing I new was that it was Halo and it was animated. So, yes I was looking forward to it just based on the fact that it was based on Halo.

You thought it'd be family friendly just because it was japanese anime? ... dude japanese anime is home to some of the most gory and bloody (not to mention freaky and seriously bad ass) movies and tv series youre ever likely to see in the world. Fullstop.

He didn't say it shouldn't exist, but that it shouldn't be anime, or at least that's how I interpret what he's saying, and frankly that's how I feel. I would love to see a badass cartoon about Master Chief made in the american art style. I loved the Halo books and lore, but anime does nothing for me, and it doesn't sound like it does anything for the TC except annoy him (and me). Anyways, hopefully some of the short films will be good, we'll just have to wait and see.

Although I haven't watched any anime shows in years this was entertained me. The animation was a little iffy but the overall story, music, and voice acting stayed true to the Halo lore.

I missed it since I was hanging out with a friend last night. I missed it literally by like 5 minutes. :(

I thought it was GREAT

I loved it. I'm only disappointed that it wasn't up longer.
