eh, im still buying it. i do kind of agree with you, i expected the multiplayer to be something new at least (a tactical shooter set in the halo universe would have been cool). ill still be getting 9 new maps since i didnt get any of the dlc thats not free. and itll be more like $50 for me since im trading in halo 3 for it.
Dude.. they call it an expansion for a reason too. It's not supposed to be a brand new IP. It's an expansion/spinoff from Halo 3. Notice the Halo 3 still in the title? Wait for Halo Reach to come out cause that will have many new things.shaddix55You took the words right out of my keyboard. I suggested this somewhere before (might have been on B.NET), since there is a Reach online beta. That SURELY means theres NEW online features. Otherwise its an online map test.

If it is just an expansion, hopefully it will have a lower price tag then $60. Also, the Halo Reach beta does come with the game, but , I don't think that I should spend my money on game that all I (Personally) get out of it, is a Campaign and a multiplayer beta.
I don't think it'll be a let down. I'm looking at it as an expansion instead of a whole new game. As an expansion I think it'll do well, and this Firefight (Horde lol) mode looks like a lot of fun and what I've been looking for for a while. I'm hoping you can Forge the Firefight maps, that would be sweet. Also, I don't remember, will there be Co-op in this one?
Plus the Halo Reach beta is an obvious reason to get this, I'm excited to find out what type of gameplay it'll be. I loved Halo The Fall of Reach, the best book out of the series imho so I want to see what they do with this.

Unfortunatley, Microsoft do the pricing, not Bungie. It's published by MS and set by MS. As is DLC.AtomicAdio2I have to say, that doesn't sound right. This is not DLC and isn't anything like DLC, so why would M$ have control over the price? Link?
Yeah dude, aparantly its full priced. Have to admit, the limited edition is cool with an ODST style wireless controller.AtomicAdio2Ridiculous. I have to admit it looks cool, I was psyched for it. Firefight, and a short, original, not halo-style campaign... but for $60? :|

Its $60 because they know people will buy it regardless pf price.

That is all I want out of the game, personally. Well worth $60 to me.
It's pretty simple, guys. If you really like what you see, you'll buy it regardless of the price. I know I'm buying it. But for those of you who say "oh Halo is awesome.. oh wait, it's going to be $60?! nevermind.." Then don't say anything.. because if you spent your money on the other Halo games(and we all know how bad Halo 2 was) then you'll buy this one, too, regardless of the price tag.shaddix55I'm not saying that I'm avoiding it entirely. If it is $20-30 then I will seriously consider buying the game. Otherwise, I'm am going to rent the game or borrow it from someone. I just don't think that I should spend all the money on a campaign when all I mainly do is play online after a couple days of playing campaign.

I've bought every single Halo game for $60, because it was worth the price. The value was there. An "expansion" shouldn't cost the same as a full game. Just because I love the Halo franchise doesn't mean I'm going to be a mindless sheep and buy whatever Bungie dishes out.
Unfortunatley, as much as Bungie would like to put this game at a lower price, as they wanted some DLC to be free or much lower priced (e.g. 500MS points so MS didnt make us have to buy 1000MS points to get the maps, clever trick). For example, they got Cold Storage to be free, but MS nearly made them put a price on it, even though it was a "thank you" map. The main point is, Bungie are a developing studio, and MSGS are the publishers, they control the prices.AtomicAdio2
well said. I have to constantly tell people Bungie has nothing to do with prices. after that note I hope Halo reach will have a cover system.
I think you're forgetting one key detail--It's an expansion! Unless you go into the game expecting it to be a sequel with tons of additions, ODST shouldn't be a let down. Just look at it like it is. ODST is just an expansion with a couple of cheap new weapons and features to keep you entertained. Also, ODST will not be a $60 purchase. I think Bungie said $30.I think ODST will be worth a pick up (only if you like Halo 3 obviously) because it launches before the rest of 09 premiere titles and Halo is always fun to play.
Sorry but it really is $60, I was upset when I heard too.I think you're forgetting one key detail--It's an expansion! meh if it's truly an expansion/add on like they say, then i don't think they should be charging full price for it. i'm still a bit confused, because i got the impression Reach was an add on, but it seem that Reach is a totally new IP? someone please explain this to me :(
[QUOTE="RDG_NHL"]Dont get me wrong, the gameplay footage looks amazing, but, it lacks in the online category. The online being the same as Halo 3's with just some added 3 maps and the original DLC? I have kept up with my Halo 3 playing and am about to get the Mythic Maps. So, all I would be getting Halo ODST for is the story and Firefight, and I am not willing to spend 60$ to buy a game that I can beat in a couple of days. A rental would be all I needed to get the most out of the game.
Halo Reach is an entirely different game. I WILL most likely get Halo Reach (as long as it is not a RTS). Halo ODST has a multiplayer beta invitation for Halo Reach but the beta won't be playable until sometime in 2010.meh if it's truly an expansion/add on like they say, then i don't think they should be charging full price for it. i'm still a bit confused, because i got the impression Reach was an add on, but it seem that Reach is a totally new IP? someone please explain this to me :(

I don't know, I expect some new multiplayer modes or perhaps a whole different matchmaking category for ODST. I doubt it'll be a letdownmoose_knucklerHalo ODST is a 2 disc game. Disc 1 is campaign and firefight. Disc 2 is Halo 3's online with all DLC on it. The only reason I would have considered buying it is for Disc 1 and since the price tag is going to end up being $60 (cost stated by earlier post) I don't think that the game will be worth my money.
Halo Wars, Halo ODST, Halo Reach.... I'm getting sick of all this Halo. RM84xHalo Wars doesn't count as it was made by Ensemble Studios :p But I do hope that Bungie starts development on a new game series soon... I too am getting tired of the Halo games... Trilogy... yeah right.
