Would you say that Halo would have a steep learning curve for a primarily CoD and Battlefield player? Because I spent a few hours playing today, and I was doing bloody awful. The assault rifle doesn't do **** for damage (after a full clip, the enemy still wasn't down), a direct hit from a grenade isn't enough to kill a foe, and you can't scope while taking damage, meaning that longrange sniper fights are usually pretty one sided.

So would you say this game has a more steep learning curve, or is it just me not being very good?

Obviously you're not going to do so great when you've just come from CoD. I wouldn't say the learning curve is steep, it's just that you're comparing apples and oranges. Reach and BFBC2 are the only two shooters I play on the console. Everything else is PC.

It will be a steep learning curve for you, the strategies you learned playing Call of Duty will not necessarily work in Halo. For example you can't run up and melee someone and expect a kill. You will need to learn to adjust to Halo's playstyle before you'll get good at it. I think Call of Duty has a steep learning curve because I have played a lot of Halo. Maybe try playing Swat in Halo. The health is less, and it's an instant kill for getting a headshot. This may help you prepare for playing slayer, and other types. However, the learning curve in that mode can be steeper because some people are wicked fast at getting headshots. However, it's more like Call of Duty because of the fact that you have less health.

Just a suggestion, I have Halo matches where I'm easily the best person playing, and others where I'm one of the worse. The Halo community can be very punishing for that reason. I say if you are good at Call of Duty you should be able to play Halo eventually, however learning tactics and what to do in certain situations may be hard to figure out.

That sounds like good advice. However, I got really annoyed when I had to watch at least 3 people t-bag me. I really disliked the kill cam in this game... why the **** would I want to watch my own dead body after I've been killed? Show me HOW I was killed! Not to rip from CoD, but thats the best way to do a killcam

YES, there is more strategy to how you use the guns.

Unlike cod Where there is 50 guns but only a few types. well in halo there is is one type of gun and each gun performs different. ALSO they changed how shooting worked in reach that wasn't in other halos. Your cross hair gets bigger when you shoot so forcing you to learn how to shoot the gun calm and smooth to get the most performance. Grenades need to be used with a gun. they are not meant to be tossed random to get a kill

also in halo to win it's ideal to work with your team to control the map. unlike cod where most maps any part of the map works It doesn't have to be done. That what makes halo great. You can run lone wolf or work as team and still have chance to win but w/e

1: don't shoot semi auto guns has fast has you can pull the trigger

2: learn the high's and low's of maps and control it.

3: swipe left and right learn how to do it right and it will help take a shoot or two LESS in a fight and win a fight. Going left and right giveing to much space between them can become useless movement. not giving enough space can mess you up more. Only go one way unless your using the envoirment to loop around or get to cover ect. AND DON"T stand still and shoot like cod.

use to be really good at halo 2/3 until i stop playing halo 3 alot and got bored of reach

lol getting t bagged is the price to pay RLOF... i like the kill kam in cod but. watching your team get killed or them while your dead is far better. OOO don't let sword guy get in small area with 2 of you together and one is watching the other run around trying kill the swordguy. Becomes a blast to watch. YOU sir be yelling over the t.v saying "NOOOO" 2: if you get a team you can use that as a advantage. 3: maps are small and more open you be seeing them soon.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Despite the fact that I am getting my ass handed to me, I'm still having a blast. But which map pack should I buy? I have 800 points to blow on one, but I don't know which is the best! Any thoughts?
