im not typically a pessimistic person
but it is a very generic strategy game with absolutely zero innovation
I've seen disc for some xbox demos but i don't think Halo Wars is one. FEAR demo is out.
I was expecting this game to be a standard RTS game with a Halo look. That is what it is, therefore i am happy. I'm actually glad it's going to be more simplistic because although I love C&C:RA3 the huge number of ways to get around actually fighting (many forms of unit rushing and then Drone rushing, engineer rushing, sneaking heros into bases, etc) takes away from the experiance after awhile because there no real unit fighting.

What he said...
Although the controls worked well, i'd still prefer a pc version, and even then, i'd just download it... just to punish ensemble for squeezing the halo series a little more
dude thats so wrong, how did ensemble squeeze it? If anything its MS is squeezing the franchise, getting ensemble and having them make halo wars, then shut the studio down? Regardless back on topic Halo Wars is awesomeI've been playing RTS games my entire life PC or otherwise. And I don't see why people are harshing this game so much. The controls are great, the graphics are great and it's set in the Halo verse. For those that bash this as milking the Halo franchise. Or a dis to Halo. Know this, Halo was originaly planned to be an RTS. This is Halo in it's pureist form. The only bad thing happening here is that Ensemble is being shut down after this. Maybe if it sells well enough, Bungie could make the sequel. For those that complain about the base building, You will have the ability to build micro-bases and outposts as well as the primary build plots. Alas, people are judging the game by the demo. It's only natural that the unit variety and population limit is low in a "TRIAL" version of the game...Shika_Stoner

Everyone should atleast give this game a chance
Because inovation is the only way to be fun, right? Guess that means Portal and Mirror's Edge are like the only fun games, I guess. Oh well.im not typically a pessimistic person

it is a pretty simplified RTS games that works extremely well on the xbox. Its probobaly one of the best RTS games on the console games. The problem is, there are probobaly much better RTS's on the PC.
Another thing I like about the game is the fact that you dont need to constantly find new resources to get, as you always have a nice supply flow.

for someone like me who enjoys new experiences and innovation for my very limited time and money, yes.
I still have yet to play it but based on the other console RTS games and after playing Sins of a Solar Empire which might be the best RTS of all time I have low expectations.

absolutely touche'd
The story line looks really good and I think the controls will work out alright, but I am not impressed by the graphics. It kinda reminds me of the Starcraft and Comand & Conquer ports on to the N64. I found it hard to distinguish between the convenant elites and grunts, they are just undefined purple blobs (mind you I am not playing on full 1080i, though so my comment on the clarity and definition of units might be off because of that). I have been playing TC's End War and think that the graphics in that game are much better, and was hoping that Halo Wars' graphics would be on par.bibbalo
Wow. Something must be wrong to have caused you to say this about Halo Wars' graphics, because I thought they were just fine. I haven't played Tom Clancey's End War, but it must be the best looking game made for the current console generation to make you think Halo Wars looks like an N64 game. You clearly have an HD tv because you said you aren't playing at full 1080i, so I have to ask: are you using a componet av cable and how small is your tv? Because not having your xbox set at 1080i doesn't matter, games are made to be played on a tv with 720p resolution. Setting the resolution any higher will just give you more color, it can't force the game to look any better than it was made to look (which, in this case, isn't bad).
But if I'm out of line here and your xbox is hooked up to a 30-40+ inch tv with an HDMI cable, and you still think Halo Wars looks like an N64 game, then you may be sitting way too close to the screen or you are a very picky person.
