it wouldnt make much sense. How would the Flood create units? The only way the flood spreads is by sending those small parasites and infecting living bodies, and frankly, it wouldn't make much sense to have them "create" units. How would the flood get supplies? and, their weapons would have to be UNSC and Covenant, because they do not have any unique weapons. They have no technology, their only goal is to infect and rise in numbers. The covenant and UNSC at least have a central command and have leaders like the Prophets or support like the spirit of fire. THe flood don't have their own vehicles as well, and that would only be a major imbalance in the game

Playing the flood woudn't be possible with the way the game is set up. They would have no means of creating units, gathering supplies, using vehicles, etc.mfacekHavent you guys play starcraft? All the units, vehicles and bases can be creatures ;)

yea the flood should be playable i hate that you cant be them like its dumb how there like trying to say it could conflict stuff like no one cares we just want to have fun and having the flood playable would make the game soo much more fun cuz i mean 2 teams isnt really enough it could make the game kinda boring fast because theres not to much different you can do with 2 teams all the time at least 3 teams would give you more things to do when you play hopfully it will become like a downloadable content thing to be the floodDon0van
the thing is, when someone plays a game called "Halo Wars" they expect a game related to Halo. And that means no flood riding a huge monster that chucks rocks at their enemies.
yeah, i think it would be cool to play as flood. they won't have vehicles or anything but still cool. they would need a different type or something because other people would have guns and things.iam2green

eI think you should have to capture the Flood's base. After that you can build flood turrets (the ones in H3) as well as a couple of Flood units. If you were to create a "mother" (or whatever they're called) you could transform dead enemy infantry into Flood units. I think it would be cool.Hickamie14See. lots of people think that Playable Flood would be good. As for the how do they get supplies problem I'm sure Ensemble could think of a way to make it work.
I started a thread similar to this but every one started to talk about why the flood would conflict with the story line. I'm going to make this as clear as i possably can, THE FLOOD ARE IN HALO WARS BUT ONLY AS AN ENEMY IN THE CAMPAIGN MODE. Now the question i wanted to ask is, Why should we not be able to play AS the flood rather than just fighting them in the campaign mode. i think the Flood could be a good expansion to the multiplayer because it would give the player a more diverse option filled playing environment. So once again, DO YOU THINK THE FLOOD SHOULD BE A PLAYABLE RACE RATHER THAN JUST AN ENEMY YOU FIGHT IN THE CAMPAIGN?Atomic_Bacon
I've only seen one video showing that the flood will be in this game, and I only saw it a few hours ago. http://files.bungie.org/hw_cinematic_montage/url
Halo Wars may have a better story than the whole Halo trilogy. I'm pretty much buying this game for the campaigns cutscenes and the 3v3 skirmish mode.
Back on topic, Yeah the flood will be in the game, but they shouldn't be playable because they would use a completely different resource system. They use sentient beings(human and covenant) as resources for building an army. So any one playing as the flood would be limited by how many infantry units are thrown at them by the enemy.

Here's your answer, :P Even if they could, the race plays so differently from the others it would create a balancing issues. No units of its own, would have to depend on the other players having units, no real structure, etc. Just doesn't seem like a smart idea. The other two are great for it, very different, and at the same time very much a like. I'd rather be one race short and have a balanced RTS rather then extra races and have everything go nuts.

Please read what everyone says before you respond, in one of my responses i stated that the Flood have Pure Flood Forms like the Spider, Shooter and Tank Flood in Halo 3. These forms don't need hosts and you could spawn them freely. by the way Tank Flood is the Flood form that most people think is a Hunter that got infected... Wrong, it is actually a pure Flood form.[QUOTE="buttface1"][QUOTE="cerealkiller8"]it wouldnt make much sense. How would the Flood create units? Y'know I keep seeing you post and everytime you do it seems like you got a stick up your ***, chill out dude. And I did read it all, but like I said, that information is pretty much irrelevant.
it wouldnt balance well, they dont have vehicles and maybe if they figured that stuff out (plus the whole story thing) maybe theyll add them in with dlc or when they make a sequel (because they WILL make a sequel there is ALWAYS a sequelarmyman455Umm... is ensemble studios shutting down after this game launches? So the sequel would'nt be made by them even if there was, and bungie said that they want no part of halo wars.
Ok, check it out, Flood won't be playable, so don't **** but it is balanced. The flood is able to drive vehicles, so they'll probably have some sort of jacking ability, and also they'll have the morphing flood, meaning it'll be able to shoot, and the flood always can pick up fallen troops weapons. And plus, an infected Spartan equals the Juggernaut, so they'll probably have those in there as well, along with some new types most likely. And they will have forms of bases, it was seen when they were introduced. And as for the UNSC not knowing about Flood, and if they were on Harvest why didn't they know, it's because Harvest gets completely glassed, nothing is left, and of the like 8 ships the UNSC send to check what happened to Harvest, only one comes back, badly damaged due to the Covenant, that ship never made land fall because the planet was glassed. It works with the lore of the Halo universe because we never understood why they completely glassed Harvest, Ensemble just gave us that reason by introducing the Flood to Harvest. So there ya go, got any questions message me.soshootme77But I thought that the Covenant glassed every planet, I mean I have just read the books from The Fall of Reach to Ghosts of Onyx, so I guess that they could have retconned it. Also I thought that the UNSC hadn't encountered Elites until just a little before the battle of Reach.
The flood should be playable the only vaild excuse for them not to be is that it would create some problems within the story. In the 1st halo game the humans were unaware of the flood's exsistanceand having a game that takes place 20 years before that where a crazy alien plauge attacks them and then 20 years later everyone just forgets about it would be pretty stupid. Having the flood in the game wouldnt be that hard if it was thought up in the beginning. They could have the story be around the flood taking over a small covenate fleet like in halo 3 and shooting down flood from pods. They could be the strongest race in the game but with weak squads that can be picked off pretty easy* Instead of killing units they convert them. Their main base could have been a crashed ship. Instead of getting raw matterals by the supply pads they could be forced to get them by the amount of enemy units they now control. The only units you would be able to produce are the things filled with floodlings and their ablity could be to explode into the little things. But it would be impossible to explain how the humans didnt know about the flood in halo combat evolved unless they just kill everyone off in the story.

Sadly, I have to agree. It wouldn't make much sense. But still, it worked for Starcraft perfectly, just wouldn't work with Halo.
