I'm doing a research project for a class, and this can count as a "completely unbias" survey in terms of location and such.

Just select yes or no, or the third choice.

Thanks.

No change here i can play games and find plenty of time to not gain weight. Just walk over to your friends houe to play instead of getting a ride.

Luckily, gaming is just one of my hobbies. I go to the gym, hike, play basketball and bike regularly. In the summer I barely game at all because I'm outside most of the time.

If anything it helps me lose weight. Paying attention to video games generally keeps the mind from thinking about eating. Remember, if you have not eaten over your calorie intake for a day, it does not matter how much you sit and be lazy.

I'm gaining weight, but it's unrelated to gaming; I'm gaining muscle mass because I need to be 15 pounds heavier so I can make top boat on my team. Although I weight next to nothing and when I game I don't eat, so let's say that gaming doesn't make me lose weight.

Actually it does the opposite. I lose weight because I'm so busy gaming, I dont eat, or I skip a meal on my off days. I limit my gaming to 3-4 hours max. I enjoy working out, playing basketball, jogging, hiking, surfing, so I'm pretty fit.

I think that statement is a bit misleading. In theory, yes, if you remain idle being cautious not to exceed a set calorie intake, you will not gain weight. However, sitting constantly and being lazy(as you put it) can affect your body. Your body will naturally burn calories, but with constant inactivity your metabolism will decrease, making it difficult for your body to burn calories not to mention the overall affect it can have on your health.

360 gaming won't make you gain weight... general inactivity and poor eating habits will do that. playing xbox 360 will actually burn more calories than simply watching tv. now, if you choose to play xbox instead of physical activity that you would normal partake in, than yes, maybe 360 could be considered a cause of weight gain.

long story short, no, 360 has not caused me to gain weight. i've been stuck at 6'2" 210 for about 2 years.

Hell yeah! I was 190 when I got mine in July and am now 235. Can't blame it all on the 360 but it is more than coincidence I think. I recently thought about selling it along with the 12 games I have for it. Then, last week while at the mall, I bought Mass Effect and now I'm really hooked. Need to come up with a happy medium here.

Gotta say because of those games that get you up and moving, etc Guitar Hero & Rock Band, it seems like i am losing weight, but besides those games i can't look towards my xbox for adding the pounds on me but i can definitely see a relation for a person who only games and does nothing else, unless you have a unbelievable metabolism.......lol

If you're planning on counting this as a random sampling survey, then I hope the prof doesn't have any background in stats....

You put yourself in a tough spot with this question... after all, playing games doesn't make you fat - eating too many calories and eating patterns make you fat. Or having a thyroid disorder, either way.

If you want to draw real causal connection, go with the metabolism impact of marathon gaming. Sitting in one place and doing nothing and staying up late are probably very prevalent in gamers, and you can tie that back to some documented studies about those types of behaviors.

The army helps keep me in shape... but even before I joined, I worked out, so no. The question at hand is how many people have a life outside of their 360?

Actually, all my life I've been skinny. I was at 27 years old and weighed about 115 lbs at 5'8. Dude, this year either my metabolism slowed down, or I've been playing 360 after work too much with snacks. I'm at 183 lbs and I had to give away all my brand new jeans that were size 30, and have gone to a size 38! I'm 28 now so do the math.

I've lost weight in the last year(i've owned my xbox for about a year and a bit now) Sometimes after playing gears of war, fight night, or skate, it makes me want to work out or go do something.

Yeah I think I have. When I play games on the wekend I drink beer, and I play alot of games on the weekend. I work out, but I also work 40 hours a week at a desk for the most part. Its harder to stay in shape when you get older, ya hear, kinda sucks.

I have gained weight since I've owned my 360 but I'm inclined to say thats due to a slowdown in my metabolism and a love/addiction to cookies and whole milk.

I used to game more often on my ps2 and xbox and never gained a pound until the last 2-3 years.

I've gone from 6'3 175lbs to 6'3 205. This might sound atrocious but when you take into account that I was dangerously skinny before, my weight now actually appears to be healthier. Or so I've been told.

I have gained some weight since I got the 360 but I can't say it was completely it's fault. I am 5'8", 176 lbs and enjoy long walks on the beach..... oh wrong forum.... :P

Seriously, I was at 160 lbs just this last year and went to 176 in the last 6 months. I am also in a baseball league to help keep me in shape so, imo, the weight I gained will actually help me their. I think the 360 contributed to some of that as did fast food.
