they flow more air in than out to the 360, causing it to heat up a lot faster. i've heard several stories too where the fan will melt to the back of the 360, and your warrenty will be voided because of that.

I dunno about that last post as I never heard of anything as extreme as that, however I used a Nyco Cooling fan (The EX model I think? Whatever the newer one is). Anyways I found that the fan drained alot of the power from the 360 and caused for sluggish gameplay, freezes and at one point a red ring error (not the RROD a different pattern). Anyways I took it off after that and never used it again, nor do I recommend them. If you really want a fan buya regular room fan and put it about a foot behind your 360 and use that. It is much safer.

After two RROD consoles I bought an intercooler and my third system is noticably cooler and has lasted longer than the other two. Take it for what it's worth.

Well my fan works great, I play for hours and itnever gets hot that much.

Yeah alot of people that critisize fans dont even have one. Some of the earlier ones had power issues but I bought mine about 4 months ago and it works great the 360 is way cooler than without it. Only one thing though it adds to the already loud sound of the 360.

alright then im just going to leave mine on and see what happens......i noticed it feels like the xbox isnt even on with the fan on there....Thanks

mine died. n i had a fan. when i got it fix i didnt attach the fan n its been working just fine
