Has Anyone Purchased a 360 This Year?

In other words, how is the current noise level? I've had a couple of 360s in the past. They worked fine and everything but I just hated the noise. I didn't mind the system noise so much but when a disc was inserted I felt like putting on headphones at night since I couldn't crank the TV volume all the way without waking up everyone. I wasn't able to hear anything in the game. Only during the day it'd be fine but I never play games at those hours.

Does installing games help?

No one has purchased a 360 this year.

The new Jasper chips are quieter, and it's even quieter if you install your games on the hard drive.

I had my 360 replaced by the company i got my first one from (thanks to the RROD) and I got the Elite, not too sure if it has the Jasper chip in it however it does alot less noisey which is an advantage really

Most games can. The only one that I've had problems with is Crackdown.

I just got a new 360 last night actually and its very quiet. I'm at the dashboard right now and I can barely hear it. My older 360(2006) made a little bit of noise and my friends complained that it was loud. It never really bothered me because my PS2 was 100x worse.

I recently purchaised a red Resident Evil 5 elite, and it runs a lot quieter than my old white standard one. Also runs cooler.

I got the black 360 elite in March 09 and it is much quieter than the one I had gotten December 07

I brought the 360 this past January.. It's been running very very well so far... Hope it stays that way.

Me, and it's pretty damn noisy. I game really late at night all the time and the noise was driving me insane so I installed Forza 2 to the HDD and it helped a lot.

But it's still pretty noisy.

I got mine in January, its also a Jasper. I have to say its MUCH more silent than most of the 360's I've played on so far (friends). I don't even hear it when playing and its 4-5 feet from me when playing... I have to admit I do play with high volume though.

Its really rare so I wouldn't bet on it. Of course the Falcon works well too, I bought by 360 in January and thought I had received a Jasper. Turns out it was actually a Falcon and it has not had a single problem...

I bought mine back in January. So therefore I don't know how loud it used to be, but in my opinion it's not that bad.

I bought mine in January of 09'. Installing a game and playing it there is absolutely no noise whatsoever. Without installation it makes some but it isn't noticable.
