i don't want to get a hate storm, just a discussion. There haven't been too many exlusives for Xbox. XBLA is great and all, but i think they are lacking having more exclusives. I don't know if anyone agree's with me

I don't think there are too few. Most of the games I play are multiplats anyways. Sony is the king of exclusives here on SW but to be honest there's only been two over the entire life of the PS3 that interested me enough to actually pursue playing (Heavy Rain and MGS4). I'm less interested in exclusives and more interested in good games. 360 gets plenty of good games in genres that I'm interested in so that's fine with me. Even if they had more exclusives, it'd probably be just like the PS3 where it's a bunch of games I don't care about, likely in genres I'm not interested in.

Well sure they got Halo, Forza and Gears, but they don't have really anything else. There are some good XBLA games. But not anything else at least in my opinion that are worth mentioning

No offense but to say they have only had Halo Gears and Forza before 2012 makes no logical sense. Are you looking up the games here and on IGn wiki etc? You looking on store shelves?

PC/360 (non ps3, nintendo games) - Left 4 Dead series, Alan Wake, Dead Rising, Ninja Gaiden 2, Perfect Dark Zero, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Kameo, PGR series, Crackdown series.

But honestly, if you don't like like Halo, Gears and Forza then what's the point of having a 360. For me it's all about Forza and Gears. I still play both series everyday and can't get enough.

Last Gen it seemed like MS was really focused on 1st party development, trying new IP's and focusing more on games. This Gen it feels like they don't have many 1st party games other than the 3 franchises that sold well and focused less on games and more on an all around entertainment experience. I hope that MS looks back on what made the original Xbox so great and focus on those positives for the next console. I'd personally like to see a good Fable game instead of the last piece of garbage that was released, maybe an MMO that takes place before the first Fable.

I think there are too few that are worth playing.  Though, I think part of that is the fully westernization of the system, whereas Sony has both western and japanese exlusives, allowing for more variety.  That said, I'm playing Metro 2033 now and am liking it and plan to get Alan Wake soon (I'm new to Xbox, forgive me for just getting these games now).  Though, I still think Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls are amongst the best current gen exclusives (well, Halo 4 is also very good, just a bit heavy on the button pressing).

they started out good in 2005, but when Xbox founders left, they slowed their roll. i'm talking about retail exclusives, like you, but yeah...360 started with a huge BANG, but seems to be on wimper mode the last three years for me other than the main geow/halo/fable/forza games.

they closed a lot of studios during the 360 current gen...and sort of drifted on multiplatforms and Xbox live fees.

For system wars "360 has no games"

For normal people there's 10-15 games dropping every single month.

Yes it has too few, but multiplats are generally better on it (though even better on the pc), and the controller and interface are just worlds away better then the PS3, so it remains my go-to console. If only Microsoft could get NaughtyDog to defect ;)

I got games that arn't even opened, if MS had more exclusives that would just mean that I would have a few more games unopened! Really to many game is just as bad, it caused the crash back in the 1980s.

To be honest, the only exclusive that I play now is Alan Wake. I have zero interest in first person shooters or Gears. Hopefully, there will be more RPG's next gen. I'm still holding out for a Star Ocean 5. Before it went multiplatform, Mass Effect was my number one Xbox exclusive, and even though I could play it on PS3 now, I won't simply because all my saves are on 360 and I'm not restarting the entire franchise to switch over to a different system which would be pointless anyway.

Microsoft needs more first-party titles. They charge for multiplayer access for multiplats (which is free on other platforms), and then they continue to only put out one game a year from their 3 big franchises - Halo, Gears, and Forza. Yes the 360 still has a lot of great multiplats, but when these new systems come out, Microsoft sure as hell better have some new IPs (that aren't Kinect) lined up.

The PS3 definitely has more exclusives, but personally I still like Xbox better, simply because of Forza. Halo is alright, Gears is alright, but I'm in love with Forza Motorsport. Forza 3, 4, and Horizon are three of my personal favorite games of this generation. I would rather have less exclusives, but have them be games I love, than have a bunch of exclusive titles I am not really interested in. That isn't to say the PS3 exclusives don't interest me, many of them do.

Over the life span of the 360 , it's had it's fair share of exclusives. Although right now towards the end of it's cycle it seems like all we're getting is Halo , Gears , and Forza.

You'd never know that because of Microsoft's advertising. While Sony is advertising The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls, Microsoft is advertising how to tell your xbox to slag through menus with Kinect and Smart Glass.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I'm playing the Halo CE 10th Anniversary right now. Lovin it. I expect this thread to be locked soon due to other systems coming up in the thread. I think this really should be in system wars along with the other three billion threads like it.

I think it really depends on which platform is the leading platform for third party developers. Generally the platform with the majority third party support, will have less 1st party games.  With the first Xbox, MS had to have a lot of first party IP's because Sony dominated in terms of third party support and they were just entering the market. This time around, it was the opposite to start off the generation. MS had the cheaper console, with the leading platform for developers, so Sony had to make up for it in first party IP's.

I think this is always going to be the case. If you have the majority of third party support, you don't want to dominate the charts with your own first party IP's. Gotta leave room for the third parties to make their money.

So to answer the question, they could have used one or two additional IP's, but by them stepping back, I think it also helped keep the 360 as the leading platform for third party developers. It's a matter of balance.

You make a good point. I never thought about it that way. This is part of the reason Nintendo will never be good for third party games. A few strong third party titles, and that's it. I think Sony wants it all, but they don't have it all because of the third party issue. A lot of people love third party games on the 360 because of xbox live. They don't care about the PS3 first party exclusives. When I got my 360, I suddenly found myself being told that they gotta get their xbox 360 back again so they could play Halo or Black Ops 2 with me online. One person said he wanted to play Halo Wars online with me. It's nice to know people in real life that I can play with over xbox live with both first and third party games. Maybe it really is a good thing that Microsoft only has a few strong first party games. I'm really lovin the Halo remake. I just wish they would remake Halo 2 for the 360. Looks like I'm gonna have to search out Halo 2 for the original xbox before getting my grubby hands on Halo 3. I'll eventually start on the Gears of War saga as well.

I don't agree because Nintendo had a strong 1st party for SNES and had strong 3rd party games. Sega had a strong 1st party during genesis and strong 3rd party games.

PS2 had very strong 1st party and also had the majority of games. You don't have to take one and not the other. M$ just is getting fat on the hog, the suits overpowered the creatives.

Xbox is just an odd apple in that they are overly reliant and don't develop IPs because they cost more than buying timed exclusive content.

The main reason I still turn on my 360 is because of Fable, it is my favorite series on the Xbox and I have loved all the games. Is there a little drought of exclusives compared to the PS3? Sure, but I play my 360 more because of the great XBLA games, more of my favorite exclusives, and a better interface.

It could have had more, but I've never had a problem finding great games to play on the 360 (most of my fave games are multiplats anyways).

There are quite a few, i think the problem lies in genre. The majority of exclusives are shooters. Gears of war, halo, crackdown etc

I would love to see a Fable prequel on the next console. The original Fable is still my favorite of the three and would love to return to a time where Heroes were all around, maybe an MMO.

i don't want to get a hate storm, just a discussion. There haven't been too many exlusives for Xbox. XBLA is great and all, but i think they are lacking having more exclusives. I don't know if anyone agree's with me

they started out good in 2005, but when Xbox founders left, they slowed their roll. i'm talking about retail exclusives, like you, but yeah...360 started with a huge BANG, but seems to be on wimper mode the last three years for me other than the main geow/halo/fable/forza games.

that's what i have felt also
