So i was hooking up my new 360 today, i used the composite av/hd cable that came with my premium console. I plugged it into the 360 and the corresponding ports in the back of the TV, flicked the switch from 'TV' to 'HD' and turned on the console. The picture was different shades of green (like a black and white screen except green) and no sound was being played.

Anything extra i need or something im doing wrong?

P.S. i tried the console at 480p, 720p and 1080p all giving the same result.

Sounds like you're hooked into the composite jacks (Yellow for video, Red and White for Sound), you need to be hooked into Component Jacks (Often Green, Red, and Blue...all of which are used for Video)

I connected in the Red Green Blue ones and that is why im having this problem. When i use YRW ans switch to 'TV' it plays standard quality fine, when i use RGB and go to 'HD' the above problem occurs.

What kind of TV do you have (Make / Model)? If you used the Yellow, Red, and White cables on the same inputs as you were trying the Green, Blue, & Red cables that tells me your TV has Composite inputs, not Component.

No there is The YRW on one row then in the row infront is the RGB. It doesnt matter too much now as i just ordered a HDMI cable. Although i now have another question: The TV was originally on PAL50, the quality was great, but when i inserted MW2 it said i needed to change to PAL60. I changed it and the quality is awful, it is impossible to read small writing (like messages and text when trying to type) and all edges are blurred etc. Why is this happening?
