I got a question about this. I got my 360 around 2007 and it doesnt have an Hdmi port. I see on my high def tv theres an option that sais Hdmi. Right now i have the component cables in at 720p on my tv. Will Hdmi drastically improve quality? Am i able to run Hdmi if i dont have the port in the back of my 360? Im a noob when it comes to this stuff

HDMI does drastically improve picture quallity in games,in my experience anyways but if you dont have an HDMI port I believe there is an adapter you can purchase.

The experts say HDMI is best used for HD. With composite video cables you will get a good picture, not sure if HDMI is noticeably better though. If your TV is LCD then you should set your 360 to the highest resolution that your TV supports for best picture. LCD TV's as well as monitors give a noticeably poorer picture if it isn't at max resolution. So 1080p is much better then 1080i. p = progressive scan, i = interlaced scan. Interlaced setting will give you a blurry picture.

Keep in mind that adaptor only basically allows you to plug a component into an HDMI slot,,,doesnt actually give you HDMI picture quality

Never Fear!
Component cables running a 720p resolution still look flippin' sweet on an HD TV.
My mate and I have the same 42inch LG Plasma TV, and both of us have Xbox 360 pro's.

Mine was bought in 2006 and doesn't have the HDMI port, his was bought in 2008 and DOES have the HDMI port.
We basically tested this at his house, first plugging in a component cable followed by and HDMI cable to see if there were any differences.
The quality difference was essentially very little to none at all in the end. Nothing to get worked up over.

However keep in mind that Full HD TV's benefit more from HDMI, and even the quality of the HDMI cable makes a difference.

I like how microsoft comepletely ripped off the loyal customers who bought the first 360s. No HDMI slot, 13 gig hard drive (technically 20gb), and no way of upgrading to 120 without shelling out half of the amount you would pay for a new xbox.... What in a world?
