They are the same signal, so simple adapters work fine, no loss in quality since the signal is digital and doesn't change. The only thing you would lose is audio that might have been going through the HDMI too.

I got an adapter from radio shack. It cost about 30 dollars. I actually saw an hdmi to dvi chord that cost about 30 bucks. I saw it at my university bookstore so maybe its out in major stores.

You'll get the same picture. The only thing you should know is that DVI doesn't have audio, so you'll need an optical cable to connect it to your spekers.

How on earth is VGA greater than DVI? I'm using DVI for both my 20.1inch LCDs on my pc right now, if they were VGA it would be crap. Unless you meant VGA to DVI :) , but that still makes little sense

No my LCD tele has a dvi input (which is the only HD input) So I was forced to buy a VGA to DVI adapter. End of my story :D

What's the model number of your tv? Are you sure it doesn't have one Component HD input? Sometimes a tv will have several component, but one HD. I mean Component is the most common HD input for tvs, DVI and HDMI are usually the one extra alternative.
